Arguably there are three types of recruitment:
    1) HS
    2) Roster
    3) Portal

I'd like to get your opinion on roster recruitment. These are our players who still have eligibility and are most likely to go into the draft early or enter the portal. Who would be our biggest loss? Who do we need to recruit the hardest?

Obviously if DJ transfers it would be devastating, but hopefully not likely.

I would say that the way Caleb Banks is playing he might go into the draft and he would be our biggest loss.

    What say you?

#1. HS :: Solomon (OT), Pickett/Stubbs (S), Dallas Wilson/Ffrench (WR), Jayden Woods (Edge), two DL and Onis (CB).

    #2 Roster
    1. Banks
    2. Slaughter
    3. Sapp
    4. Barber
    5. Shemar James

#3 Portal :: S, WR, Edge, DL ... but this obviously depends on how we do with HS and Roster.

However, I think our 2025/26 roster can have 105 scholarship players. If so, there is little downside to load up on players and let them compete for playing time.

I think you stole some people's thunder! Very comprehensive.

H.S.: This would be a great early Christmas present and catapult us into the top 10. Not to mention weaken rival's classes. I could see us getting Solomon given what he said about DJ. And the way the hole's ship is sinking. The rest would require us getting on Santa's good side.

Roster: Not surprised that the op 4 are LOS players, but do you really think 2-4 are likely? Shemar I might see given the some of the talent behind him.

Portal: I can also see us going for a QB. The sales pitch...DJ is a running QB and has already been injured and Aiden is a project who passed Millen on the depth chart. Tramell is also not ready for prime time. It's a hard sell, but an important one, IMHO.

Surprised Tre wasn’t listed in group two.

I thought about him. At the beginning of the season I could see his frustration. But with the injury lowering his stick and D J raising his hope I'm thinking/hoping he stays. But I agree that CBN needs to keep him.

We probably have to replace 4 DTs and we are not prepared to do so. We do not have enough depth to replace 4 - virtually nobody does. We will be forced to go heavy in the portal for plug and play DTs - hopefully we get better guys than Mullen did when he had to do the same

No small irony that these boards have spent much of the last year ripping those DT that we are now going to struggle to replace. Des couldn't play more than one snap a series, Slackman was bust from an inferior conference, Jackson was out of shape and a mid level cast off we reached on.

I would think a portal DT would be a key pickup. But Lyons, Boireau and Robinson should be stepping up to prime time roles. Getting Banks back would be huge, but not sure that's in his best interest monetarily

Well the criticism of Watson and slackman is warranted. Jackson and Banks are beasts though, would loveeeee to get banks back but idk why he would.

we will need at least one, probably two high snap caliber DTs from the portal. Hard to do.

Pickett and D. Wilson are my long-shots. We really need to get Stubbs back on campus.

Of the "Roster" players I listed, I think 4 of those 5 will return.

The victory over LSU will be defined as a program changer if we continue this momentum (winning and recruiting).

No, he has played well and a lot of snaps. It's been over the top criticism.

pretty sure Sapp is out of eligibility. If not, I’d expect him back.

you are correct. Thanks. He has like zero draft buzz. If drafted, would be a day 3 pick. Likely to make more money via NIL vs non guaranteed money as a late round nfl pick. But..could be his is tired of college. But he seems like he loves UF so I see him come back and try to build upon this season where he performed well.
