Mullen's ability to recruit rivaled Napier's clock management and timeouts.

LB David Reese transferring. I think he wants to leave before his 40th birthday.

With Reese leaving, we're at 17 departures now, not including 4 seniors with no more eligibility. I expect at least another 12-15 by ESD - maybe more.

15 more would be wild, because that would mean we'd have a class of 35, including transfers. Let's see!

The drop-dead number to be at 85 is attrition of 9 more.

Admittedly, 15 would be the high end. But I did offer a up a range of 12-15 as a hypothetical, which is, I believe reasonable. IMO, everything depends on who commits, who's still available, and who renders themselves expendable in one way or another prior to NSD in Feb. ESD is the most pressing issue, of course, but there will almost certainly be some top talent that remains uncommitted 'til the very last moment. I personally expect that BN will keep his options open accordingly, and that means being able to accommodate the one or two most coveted prospects who remain on NSD. We're all guessing to some extent, but there will almost certainly be an effort to maximize the take right up the very end. As you say, we'll have to wait and see.

I guess the bright side is that, very soon, Napier will have a roster full of "his guys." He brought in 19 recruits who enrolled and six transfers last year. In 2023, the class of recruits and transfers is looking to be large with 22 already committed and no annual NCAA limit for incoming. So, we should easily have well more than half the scholarship roster loaded with Napier's acquisitions in short order.

And, the old men taking advantage of their extra COVID year are steadily filtering out of the system, too.

    Public knowledge...
Competitive advantage? BYU's NIL deal could test limits
BYU has 115 players and ALL are getting a full ride(essentially on scholarship)
    85 on formal scholarship
    30 scholarship paid by NIL

There is no 85 limit on having players get full ride benefits. It's how many players you want to carry on the roster. BN says he wants 50 PWO. That's a roster of 85 + 50 = 135 players on the roster. Whether that full ride benefit comes from the 85 scholarships given by the school or by NIL depends on the players EGO and coaches choice.

We theoretically could have ALL 85+ on the roster have their Tuition, Room, and Board paid by NIL and have ZERO scholarships given by the university.

I know it blows some of your minds but I guess having a thread on how many more leave and how many we sign is fun. Not sure limits play a part on how many more we get on the team. They all can and probably will be on UF or NIL scholarship.

Man, who is going to take over as roommate for Andre Debose? He may not take to the newbies as well. Dammit!

Why would you assume I don't already know this?

In theory that can happen. In actuality, it won't right now (it might happen in several years). I won't even get into the countless reasons why that won't happen - it's not even practical or ideal to do.

So, yes, this thread is a blast for me...which is why I started it and keep updating it.

I think in the future it will be typical to have a turnover of about 1/3 of our players every year.

It’s going to be interesting if any of our players entering the portal end up becoming stars somewhere else and fans start wondering how Napier let them get away.

Right now he can blame culture and have a valid reason. That excuse, however, loses value year over year.

Right because ….imagine having Hopper and Diabate this season, even Jacob Copeland

Hopper and Diabate would have helped immensely. Copeland was so much of a locker room liability that I'm not sure he would have helped more than he hurt.

Yeah, Copeland quit on the Gators twice. Once with a decommitment, then again as a transfer when we were in need of receivers. Always whining and making everything a social issue. Said online he was sorry he became a Gator before he left. Last I looked, he wasn't exactly tearing it up at Maryland either (finished with 376 yards and 2 TDs, with his status now listed as "out" again by ESPN).

So far the list is up to 23 players (transfer, going pro, dismissed, etc) expect 5-10 more.

22 incoming recruits(known) hoping for 3-5 more to sign plus another 5-10 from the portal(lots of offers going out)
