It's unclear how many states there are in the union all together. Herschel Walker says there are 52. But then "what about" Obama? He said 57.

All 6 of these justices lied about Roe as settled law in their confirmation hearings.

It seems the folks taking a victory lap on this thread are the same ones that don't understand Roe v Wade or this current ruling. They seem to be happy their team somehow won something.

    The dissenting opinion...
"“Roe and Casey well understood the difficulty and divisiveness of the abortion issue. The Court knew that Americans hold profoundly different views about the ‘moral[ity]’ of ‘terminating a pregnancy, even in its earliest stage.’ And the Court recognized that ‘the State has legitimate interests from the outset of the pregnancy in protecting’ the ‘life of the fetus that may become a child’ …So the Court struck a balance, as it often does when values and goals compete,” the justices wrote, citing Casey. “Today, the Court discards that balance.”"

Nah, senators lied about clear non-answers being a commitment not to overturn it.

I discussed this point when the draft opinion leaked, but “it’s binding on me as a lower court judge and is entitled to the same degree of deference as any other precedent of the Supreme Court” is carefully crafted not to say it can’t be overturned.

What would moving away from NY do for you? There, you would not be compelled by the government to take any particular action regarding a pregnancy. In the state you move to, you will do as told.

And in the new state, you may not even have more neighbors who agree with the state mandated action.

The other direction does work. That is, moving away from a state compelling a specific personal action to one with no such control.

Meaning that they technically did not lie, just practically, as they all knew very well what they're statements implied.

More detail on the judge's comments during confirmation.

What conservative justices said — and didn't say — about Roe at their confirmations

I agree that now the Republicans have to be fully accountable pro gun anti abortion views. If that is what the majority wants so be it. If not they can no longer duck and cover behind the supreme Ct to appease their base.

The general public needs to decide if they want to live under right wing rule, or if it is actually important enough to go and vote, and vote for somebody who isn’t perfect but mostly consistent with your values vs withholding for the perfect ideologically pure left wing candidate.

Nice to know people like me are actually being thought of….you have the media in your corner. I’m certain your people and the media are much more powerful than the courts. So stop the fuss.

I think you should re-read your own articles. The first was from 2011 where the citizens by vote, rejected a bill banning abortion; therefore it wasn't banned. Your next article was written to deceive you and evidently succeeded. As I read it, it bans almost all abortions as illegal AFTER 15WEEKS, except in certain cases. They concentrated on the words BANS ALMOST ALL ABORTIONS, while casually throwing in the 15 weeks part. I am no lawyer, and I am going by only this article, but I believe I am correct, you can get an abortion in the first 15 weeks for whatever reason you want, it is still legal.

You do know Roe and Casey were both unconstitutional correct? Now it's up to the states to adjust their own abortion laws the way it was before.

Hate republicans and their policies all day, but they show up to vote in every local state and national election and those elections have allowed them to take a grip on power. The Dems don’t. This is the result.
Mcconnell was able to pull his garbage because they had a senate majority. State houses were able to gerrymander and pass these laws because they had majorities, even in non red states.

just depressing how inept the Dems are as a counter weight, and the same party that brought you today’s pillar smash on our democracy will likely have the house and senate too in five months. And the dem’s saviors? A 79 year old Biden and 82 year old Pelosi trying to right the ship for a party that is young and minority majority.
    Good luck with that.
