Can we just find a country for all the Christofascists to go to and have their theocracy so they'll be happy and we'll be happy without them?
Fascist Germany really loved abortion, national socialism, and they persecuted Christians! If the Christofacist country you are speaking of allows abortions, socialism, and hates faithful biblical Christianity, then maybe all of you who support abortion and socialism and hate faithful biblical Christianity would be happy living there.
Just about every developed country in the world "allows" abortions and socialism, including ours. I don't hate "faithful biblical Christianity." Enjoy your Christianity. I have zero interest in preventing you from practicing your religion. What I do oppose is you attempting to create a theocracy where you can impose your beliefs on me and everybody else. If you want your little Christofascist paradise, go find yourself a new country. You can outlaw socialism, free exercise of other religions, and abortions! But this country has a Constitution that prohibits your theocratic fantasy. The vast majority of us have zero interest in living by your rules. Take your tyranny elsewhere.

Shannon M. Clark, MD, MMS on TikTok Doctor in Texas describes patient in her 30s. No history of seizures. One child already. Brought in to ER seizing. Aggressive brain tumor found. They also found she's pregnant and there's a heartbeat. The ONLY treatment for her is chemotherapy and surgery, but she needs an abortion for that. She was DENIED one because a brain tumor doesn't qualify under health of the mother since death isn't immediately imminent. She was able to go to a relative out of state. Remember, though, Texas is one of many states trying to make leaving the state for care while pregnant illegal by way of things like bounties, deputizing private citizens, etc. Oh look. Another "rare" case that folks will point to as "well it's rare so we don't worry...think of those Godless hussies we're stopping". I would LOVE to see the reaction of a child being told their mom doesn't get to live because she's pregnant, and that it's in "God's hands". Sure the child will have no mother. If she's married her spouse will now be a widower. But that doesn't matter, does it? I'm glad more and more are coming out with their stories and experiences. Not that some will listen because THEY feel they themselves are God and His voice on Earth. If you've NEVER had seizures/brain tumor, let me tell you. Not fun. And mine weren't the aggressive type. I had seizures before that and in my 2nd pregnancy. I chose my son but was on bed rest- a luxury most pregnant women do NOT have. And yes, seizure meds can cause birth defects so under some states, seizures medications would be banned. I can only imagine the comments when I see replies about theocracies and "Christofascists". Half tempted to unignore people to see but probably not good for my health LOL. When I think of the Bible, and see people weaponizing it and get angry with God, I remind myself that the Bible is a book written by men. It's been written, copied, translated, interpreted repeatedly for over 1000 years. Each translation is a different version. For example someone found that Leviticus was changed in the 40s or something to add terminology against homosexuality which wasn't there before (will try to find it). I wouldn't doubt someone will try to put out a new version with the word "abortion" in it to help with their stance. Once again. This is the United States of America. You don't get to push beliefs on to others. A great example of religious and judgmental folks doing that was Prohibition. Look how well THAT turned out. You wouldn't like it if suddenly enough Jewish people got into power and declared all pork products banned nationally and instituted their full beliefs on YOU. Well you've done that. To them, to Muslims, and to many others. Good on them to already be suing States on these grounds.
For those that haven't seen it, watch or read "Handmaids Tale". Atwood based it on things that have already happened in history to women to an extent. Gilead is a theocratic "America". There was an overthrow & women were separated. There was a class formed of the Handmaids. Their job was basically incubators. Their children taken away. They were raped and forcibly impregnated, then after birth the babies given to other wives of powerful men. Lesbians had their privates mutilated as punishment for deviancy. A wife quoted and read from a Bible in a meeting and the men on the board gave her husband permission to cut off a finger (or fingers I forget). Those who stepped out of line were severely punished or hanged. I suppose the major improvement in Gilead is that those who impregnated their Handmaids were legally bound to feed, clothe, and house her until birth, then they took the newborn and the Handmaid was returned to the group. That's not the vision of the US I want for my daughter. Or for anyone else. To some even here, it sounds like heaven. A place where God's word as you interpret it is the law of the land. Folks need to make a cult in the mountains or something where you can have your slice of heavenly oppression, judgement, hatred, bigotry, etc, and cloak it under His Word. Leave our FREE country to the rest of us. Off to my doctor. Yay! Lucky for me I'm HERE in NY (I hate saying that) and can get medications and treatment.
Almost forgot...emboldened by the decisions lately, Walgreens particularly has had issues with pharmacists refusing to dispense birth control pills, cashiers refusing to sell condoms and even shaming purchasers in front of other customers, etc. They say it's against their religious beliefs to provide those products. Remember all you folks saying birth control and condoms were fine and to be responsible and use them? Here you go. For one woman the pharmacist basically played games with her refills and it was nearly a week before she got her prescription. By that point if you don't know that means your cycle is out of whack, hormones are all over, etc. More Godliness I suppose. I mean obviously an anemic woman taking birth control to regulate her cycle so she doesn't have major bleeding and blood clots dropping out of her for a week is obviously a loose woman who doesn't deserve birth control pills and she should just not have sex. *facepalm*
The power of the perversion of words. The power to corrupt language. It is a form of lying. Fascism historically is so much more aligned with everything you believe than what I believe, but keep telling yourself otherwise. Keep lying and perverting and twisting the English language. The disrespect and the disregard for the sanctify of human life, the support for abortion, the labeling of some subset of human beings as non-persons, the use of schools to brainwash children into the state’s prescribed ideology, a tightly knit relationship between corporations and the state. That is descriptive of one of our ideologies and how they operate in this country presently and it is not mine.
Business decision. People are used to being data mined. They don’t want to be charged by some Texas overlord because of a visit to a New Mexico clinic.
Fascism is not aligned with socialism. These are completely different ideologies. The only perversion of words here is coming from yourself. I stand for freedom. You don't. We don't want your authoritarian theocracy.
Ironically, it's the same (as a category) conservatives who have opposed any type of national health insurance by using the mantra "under socialized medicine the government will interfere in the doctor-patient relationship by telling doctors how to practice medicine" who are actually promoting policies, regulations and legislation interfering the doctor-patient relationship. It's not liberals. Besides the anti-abortion laws that are the subject of this thread there is also the state legislation almost all of which has been written by conservative Republican legislators and supported by conservative Republican governors with no medical background restricting the treatment of transgender children.
Women are being denied necessary medications because they can also be used as abortifacients. Men are not being denied these medications. Equality post-Roe.
The power to corrupt words demonstrated by your use of the word “freedom.” Freedom for who and at whose expense? You certainly don’t believe in freedom for the unborn. You know the irony of weaponizing the word “fascist” and applying it to Christians who are against abortion is that abortion is the fruit of the eugenics movement. Fascists pushed the envelope of who they were justified in killing. And their disregard for the sanctity of human life expanded into areas other than just killing Jews. They also killed babies because it served their ideology. There is little difference between a Nazi killing babies to serve his ideology, a witch doctor with bones around his neck killing babies for his ideology, and someone wearing a white coat with a masters degree killing babies for his ideology. At the end of the day they are all the same thing. Each is an example of idolatry, and the person exercises their “right to choose” in serving some kind of blood thirsty idol. Corrupting and redefining the words of the English language to serve your ideology does not change that.
