Not a hero worship type, but this one is still stinging. So weird how people can impact you. In a weird way you feel you know some folks.

Much like Tom, the joy of his music will return, but this week it just makes me bummed.

Very few people ever impact me like that.

Probably my age. The older people that I learned like are now "old". (Petty, Buffett, etc) Guys like Jimmy that have me by 25 years will slowly fade away. Then at some point it will be the guys from my generation.

    And so it goes.

Maybe the organic ones but I wouldn’t expect the mineral sunscreens to lose efficacy.

I can say from experience what years of spending a lot of time in the South Florida sun with insufficient sunscreen can do. These are some examples, the first two are biopsies before and after surgery. The third and fourth were previous biopsies. Fortunately, all of the cancers were discovered at an early stage. I'm lucky that I have an excellent dermatologist and when necessary was referred to excellent surgeons.
    Final Diagnosis
    A. Skin, left lateral cheek, shave:
    - Melanoma in situ, lentigo maligna-type, peripheral and focal deep specimen margins positive
    Final Diagnosis
    A. Skin, left cheek, excision:
    - Focal residual melanoma in situ identified
    - All margins negative
    - Prior biopsy site changes

    Final Diagnosis
Skin, right parietal scalp, shave biopsy:
    - Basal cell carcinoma, nodular type, deep margin positive

    Final Diagnosis
Skin, right side of nose, shave biopsy:
-Ulcerated basal cell carcinoma, nodular and superficial types, deep margin positive

I moved up here in my early 20's but had my share of the south Florida sun until then. I hear people here talk about it and think tell them they have no idea how 8btense it is. The Carolina sun is one thing, but Florida exposure is a whole other ballgame.

Thankful for good outcomes for you.

Yeah. I'm finding that playing his songs right now is only reminding me that he's gone and no amount of reminiscing is going to bring him back. "Pre-You" and "Changing Channels" have particularly personal meaning for me and I can't turn them off in my head now.

Mac McAnally played his first solo show yesterday after Jimmy's passing. (Along with fellow Coral Reefer Eric Darken.)

He struggled to play Pirate Looks At 40 as a tribute at the end of his show. He said he went to see Jimmy to say goodbye. He played "Its my Job" (a McAnally staple) for Jimmy at his bedside. He closed the show with those two songs and you could really tell how sad he was.

Not gonna lie. There were tears in my eyes.

Mac and Jimmy were inseparable, almost a duo, for decades and frankly a Buffett show without Mac would have been missing a lot. Mac is a legend in Nashville himself.

Margaritaville was a hit when my husband and I dated for the first time in HS. I was 16 and he was 18. MUCH Later when we had a couple of kids, we'd play that album and others in the CD player of our van when we'd make the 1 hour + drive to my parent's house in Orlando. My kids know every song by heart too. Not that they wanted to!

I've always, since I was 19, used sunscreen religiously. I read that it could lay dormant in your skin for decades and then pop up in your 40's and 50's. Now people in their early 20's are being diagnosed with skin cancer. My husband has had several things removed and I've had one. He used to tease me that I was the whitest Floridan he knew. Now he wishes he had listened to me.
    @VAg8r1 you're one lucky dude.
