Loved him in those Miller Lite commercials back in the day. Remembering the one where he is at the ballpark and the usher tells him he is in the wrong seat. “I must be in the front row!” Usher moves him to the nosebleeds where he is yelling at the umpire, “He missed the tag!” Rest in peace, Mr. Uecker
Being able to laugh at yourself is a good thing. Wonderful sense of humor and a funny guy who was a good ball player in spite of what he said about himself. Playing 5 years in the majors doesn’t happen to many. I would have loved to have been that good.
About THE best thing in the recent past in baseball. He had a great persona and seemed to get it. Too much blather and righteousness in the game. RIP and thanks for the memories.
If anyone here likes to read I remember his book being one of the funnier books I have ever read. His stories about Earl Weaver’s numerous ejections were particularly entertaining.
