Another crap idiocy source often quoted here is a criminal enterprise. The far-right Epoch Times media company was at the center of a fraudulent money-laundering and cryptocurrency scam involving tens of millions of dollars, the justice department said on Monday as it announced the indictment of its chief financial officer Bill Guan. The 61-year-old executive “conspired with others to participate in a sprawling, transnational scheme to launder at least approximately $67m of illegally obtained funds”, according to a statement from the US attorney’s office of the southern district of New York. Proceeds went to the company, it said, and for the personal enrichment of individuals including Guan, who faces up to 70 years in prison on one count of conspiring to commit money laundering and two counts of bank fraud. DoJ accuses far-right Epoch Times of being money-laundering operation
It is a vile publication. For some reason it was sent to me on occasion. The entire last issue I got was a screed on the RCC. Just horrible accusations. As I was walking the mile back to my house from the mailbox, I became aware of an urgent and imminent intestinal event. It was then in the privacy of the forest that I became grateful they had included me on their mailing list.
Hmmm, I'm surprised that a Falun Gong newspaper with monetary ties to major Trump donors and officials is potentially a money laundering scheme.
There's a few billboards for it in Jax. Has no clue what it was but took a guess based on the billboard saying "News you can Trust" with a picture of some smug looking dude.
Any fair post on this story would say it's a both sides problem and left media sources are obviously big money launderers too, but they are refusing to cover the story out of bias and hiding the evidence
Don't know anything about these charges but the Epoch times has some excellent reporting and analysis. My guess is the charges are bogus. Doesn't mean corrupt prosecutors, a lawless judge and hyperpartisan jurors won't convict an innocent man ,(if he is innocent,).
Just passed a billboard for this. Apparently Epoch is making a faith based movie staring Kevin Sorbos. Epoch Studios, a branch of the wider Epoch Times Association, plans to release “The Firing Squad,” a drama about two drug smugglers who find God behind bars, in August.
It would be funny if all the money laundering was simply in service of financing VOD Christian B movies to keep Kevin Sorbo working.
So, they don't even have take taxpayer's money by the billions and send them to a foreign country in eastern Europe to launder their cash? Nice...
