How can this possibly rise to the level of idiocy which is the belief we can kill people by breathing on them ? I dare say that flat-earthism wouldn’t be as harmful.

I think very specifically you are correct. I think on a more general level people like Trump or RFKJr because the world is complicated, and they make things simple - the establishment / experts are bad, it’s not your fault you are free to believe whatever you want on anything.

I don't know his motivation, but I see no reason to think he's a GOP plant. Probably a Democrat because that's what the Kennedys have always been.

Anyone else you want to throw in there? Carter? Woodrow Wilson? What about all those ballots they found with traces of bamboo? Why'd the media ignore that, huh?

The problem with the Americans as victims of Fauci and pharma messaging etc is the Covid/vaccine skepticism was almost exclusively in the Republican side. That suggests it is something other than poor communication.

A couple of your comrades seemed to suggest he was a GOP plant up thread.

    e.g.:

    ^^^you, apparently echoing the sentiment.

    Nah, they'll due.

But for context, here's at least one of the attempts to feign righteous indignation:

You may have forgotten the president at the time was a Republican who was pushing for the vaccine. Though I think he wanted it to be an option, not an edict. I think a lot of regular working class people with common sense saw the inherent danger of going down that road. The school closures, the "now's not the time to question authority", the panic and then the many inconsistencies and contradictions that became abundantly obvious within a short period of time. Speaking as someone who works with the public each day, I don't think those people were listening to their Republican president. I think they were listening to their common sense and the democratic values they were raised with.

I think certain aspects of pandemic you can have legit discussions and there aren’t hard answers. Shut downs, masks, vaccine mandates, etc. I have opinions but there is a different side.

As to the disinformation about the vaccines that is not up for debate. The skepticism with vaccines were primarily with republicans and I think it was less about messaging and more about where republicans get their information. While Trump supported vaccines, I think the distrust had a lot to do with Trump said dumb things about Covid, Fauci and other officials contradicted him, and that made Trump and Trump supporters mad and at that point they were hostile to anything public health recommended, including vaccines, even though Trump was for vaccines.

You're getting all tribal on me. Wherever the skepticism was, whoever caused it, the skeptics were validated in the end. If Trump caused skepticism inadvertently, he actually did a service to the nation without realizing it. A vaccine that was mandatory to keep your job, that we were told was almost 100% effective of preventing infection and transmission, that was slammed through in 9 months and that had more death by far after it was rolled out than before is a travesty. Congrats to Pfizer on their $100 billion record profit, with zero liability. I guess at least that helps cover that $2.3 billion fine they had to pay in 2009.

Fauci lied on multiple occasions, tried to bury the point of origin of the virus, tried to bury the gain of function funding the U.S. sent. If you just enjoy being lied to by the government, have at it. Not I.

Your vaccine facts are just flat out wrong, as I pointed out before, but you repeat them again anyway, just like QGator and Duggers Dad.

Also, you never demonstrated any actual lies. You only demonstrated your lack of vaccine understanding. The fact that you don’t understand how vaccines and viruses work doesn’t make facts turn into lies.

This whole point of origin thing is far from over. If you listen to the people who understand this stuff the most, they overwhelmingly think the minimal evidence and sheer plausibility points to natural origins, but there is still enough conflicting noise out there such that nothing can be said with certainty.

Try stepping outside of the echo chamber and doing some actual research. Your own FBI said it was a lab leak. Are they conspiracy theorists too?

I found this particular podcast episode, from late 2022, by far the most informative account of what happened, from a person who was very close to what was going on. What makes it interesting is since it has been broadcast, everything that has come out since is consistent with what is discussed by Eddie Holmes.

Ultimately I’m not a virologist so I can’t know which set of facts supports the real story. However, the Wuhan lab natural origin seems far more compelling and has more evidence supporting it than the lab leak.

Recently there has been reporting of 3 wuhan lab employees hospitalized who had Covid like symptoms in Nov 19. At one level that seems like a smoking gun. But as address in that prior podcast episode, they said it was Covid like, but they don’t know that it was Covid. They’re a lot of viruses running around at the time - they know this because they had been doing sampling of viruses turning up in the hospitals. Almost all of the early sampling, in last days of Dec/1st days of Jan, that was identified as Covid 19 after it was sequenced in early Jan, were around the wet market. Not the lab.

Also when they say hospitalized, in China that’s where you go first when you get sick. The hospital. Not your personal doctor.

As is described in the podcast, Covid 19 had no similarity to any of the known lineages being studied at the lab, and if they were going to create a coronavirus, per these virologists, it would not be the way Covid 19 is sequenced. They view that as preposterous.

Ultimately I don’t know so I can’t definitely say one way or other, but I like to take in what facts I can.

It was somewhat tongue in cheek, most of the posts here as of late seem to ignore the scumbags the left has embraced.
I’m just reminding the leftists here of the skeletons in some of their heroes closets.

There is a fairly strong case that it came from raccoon dogs in the wet market. In fact the stalls that it probably came from were identified. I urge those who are interested read Breathless by David Quammen. There were a lot of virologists tracking this thing (and other very similar viruses) down and it is their story and told with bare mention of any politicians.

Like I said, most of the skepticism surrounding COVID-19 was born from common sense. The virus just happens to show up in the city, that has the lab, that studies SARS-like coronoviruses more than any other lab in the world. That would have to be a pretty distinct geographical coincidence. Add to that they have still not found COVID in another animal to this day. And then we find out the lab in question is doing gain of function research. We know the Chinese are suppressing data and information. So how in the world could Fauci or other virologists rule out a lab leak within weeks of the start of the pandemic? Plain common sense tells you that you can't rule that theory out until you at least find another mammal that has the virus and by ruling it out so quickly, it was obvious there was misinformation, obfuscation and obstruction. To this day, they have not found a single animal infected with the virus, other than humans.
