So, the D “nominee” and Trump would be a data-gathering scenario.

    A lot like a R primary.

Informative rebuttal by Dr Paul Offit on a conversation that happened 20 years ago with RFK Jr (and recently referenced by RFK Jr). One can only conclude between this and accounts with others that RFK Jr is a flat out liar.

The flu shots, for reasons I don’t fully understand, don’t have much a longer term T cell response, so with flu shots you are really relying on the initial antibody response, which starts to fade after a few months. The protection you may get with a flu shot the following year is probably minimal.

Most of the vaccines that have longer term immunity have longer term memory B cells and T cell responses. B cells cause additional antibodies, and T cells attack the virus directly. The Covid vaccines by all accounts have a pretty robust T cell response and is a primary reason why the vaccines prevent severe disease long after the antibody response fades. I’m not sure we know how long the Covid shot T cell responses are around, but probably well over a year or more.

They had previously found that those infected with SARS Cov 1 ?? from around 20 years ago still had active T cells that could fight the virus 17 years later.

Diseases like mumps measles and rubella tend to be longer term incubating diseases, 7-10 days or more, so longer term T cells and B cells can actually prevent infection in those cases, which can prevent infection from ever spreading if most people are vaccinated. Covid however incubates in only 2-3 days, faster than T cell / B cell responses, thus Covid infection can still spread. However, the T cells do fight the disease and prevent severe disease.

So it may be that the Covid vaccines effects last just as long as MMR and other vaccines, it is just that Covid disease incubates much faster, and also mutates much faster and much more often.

The issue is, since we have done such a great job of immunizing against measles, mumps and rubella, we are not really sure how long lives the MMR protection is in people, as opposed to animals or petri dishes.

Interestingly enough, the CDC just issued a travel advisory on July 1 for anyone travelling overseas that they should receive the MMR booster regardless of age if it has been more than 1 year since receiving the shot. For example, the last MMR booster I had to have was to get into UF, so nearly 40 years ago. We have been lucky, as others have mentioned, that many virus driven diseases develop slowly, giving our immune systems time to stop them, giving people the feeling that they never get infected. Further, with many diseases we have largely reached heard immunity (measles). The only outbreaks in the US these days are small clusters of mostly children with anti-vax wing-nut parents where a parent travelled overseas and brought the infection back with him or her.

RFK makes a valid point. A country like Nigeria, had a very low death rate from Covid. Only 32% of Nigerians were ever vaccinated and the first vaccines didn’t reach Nigeria until March 2021. Countries that had the most vaccinated populations suffered most of the Covid deaths.

Just a reminder that there is/was no Covid. There was/is only a test. And Nigeria wasn’t manic about testing like the West.

Median age is relative. Average life expectancy in Nigeria is 53 years. Not exactly a healthy country. With more pre-existing conditions prevalent, their death rate per million from Covid should at least be a little worse than the richest nation in the world, especially given the vaccine's later arrival in Nigeria.

I sent RFK Jr. a jocular DM on Twitter just now. I told him his spasmodic dysphonia is probably due to one of the vaccines he received earlier in his life. Let's see if he writes back. :D

Vast majority of people who die here are over 53. There’s your answer.

Sure they die early there but not from Covid. Age is a big risk factor for Covid. So are obesity and diabetes which they likely have much less of.

RFK Jr does not pick up on this because he is a moron.

Interesting, considering the Japanese have an average life expectancy of 85, yet they had one of the lowest Covid deaths per million ratios in the world. Almost a tenth of our Covid deaths per million ratio.

Perhaps you don't pick up on this, because you're the moron?

Japan is an island, they largely cut down travel in and out, and they all wore masks and took many other precautions.

Japan is about 80% vaxed vs the US 70%.

Discussing this with you is boring and a waste of time. When presented with facts that completely disprove your assertion, you just come up with some completely different moronic and easily disprovable assertion. You and RFK jr have that in common.

Mask-wearing in Japan is bordering on pathological. True story: Japanese who dare you shed them are taking smile lessons.
