Me too but as a panelist, it was obvious other panelists had problems with some of the items I supported.

Yes - better than nothing. Better to light a single candle than curse the darkness imo.

I understand this pov. But it does go somewhere albeit weakly in my view.

Me neither - more panelists thought otherwise though.

    I voted an unenthusiastic yes.

I used this caliber rifle at work for some deer work. I liked it because I aimed for the neck and it was either a miss or the deer dropped in its tracks. None ran off with wounds.

Was there even a poll to ban assault rifles? I don't see it among the proposals.

No, it was not. From what I remember of the discussions though, there was not much support for it but those discussions have been taken down.

Sort of, by transitive property. We voted that semi-auto rifles are not assault weapons (which I strongly disagreed with). Therefore, we would really only be banning fully auto assault rifles, which I believe are already mostly illegal with current laws. The vote to define semi-auto rifles as not being assault rifles kind of negated the need for a vote. Not 100%, but sort of. Also, there was no chance that panel would have voted to ban semi-auto rifles. That was clear from the beginning. That’s how I remember it going down, but I could be mistaken.

TBH I didn't understand the need to define fully auto, as they are almost nonexistent. Can we point to a mass shooting using a full auto, other than the bumpstock weapon(s) used in Vegas? And I'm with you in that defining assault rifles as full auto is BS. I think you're correct that the panel would not have voted to ban assault rifles, but I would have been for it.

Yeah, I made that one of the first polls, because I wanted to gauge where we could go with assault weapon bans in the proposal. If we had a quorum on declaring semi-auto rifles as assault rifles, we had a shot at banning them but the poll made it crystal clear where we stood. Also, there was a lot of chatter back and forth between me and some other panelists on who he definition, so I wanted to see where everyone else stood. In hindsight, a straight up vote on banning semi-auto rifles would have been appropriate, as well as more content concerning mental health and background checks.
