It's a shame that laser couldn't have taken out the Chinese spy balloon before it flew across America.

We had the opportunity to try it out but decided that might make China mad so let it do its thing first, then we will be tough and shoot it down once all the data had been gathered and transmitted back to the chicoms and it is over water and no more data to collect.

Group leader taken out in targeted strike in Baghdad. Spooks doing work to locate and tag him or sold out by his own?

US drone strike kills Iran-backed militia leader in Baghdad

A senior commander of an Iran-backed militia has been killed in a US drone strike in Baghdad.
A leader of Kataib Hezbollah and two of his guards were in a vehicle when it was targeted in the east of the Iraqi capital. All three of them died.
The Pentagon said the commander was responsible for directing attacks on American forces in the region.
The US has linked the militia to a drone attack in Jordan that killed three US troops last month.

I wouldn't be surprised if he was sold out by one of his own. If your family is starving or in need somehow, that will trump your devotion to a terrorist group that you may or may not have strong feelings for.

As far as laser/space technologies (or technologies in general), there are some capabilities you do not want your adversaries to know about until it is critical. The hope is to never need them. Surely that does not need saying.
