The Dems and the pubs are in the middle of change but only the Dems are on board with their change to the communist side. The establishment Pubs are slowly changing, but make no mistake about it... even in this change, that the GOP is fighting tooth and nail for will will NOT happen.

I remember thinking that the Pubs during the Obama years was all talk a NO action. And that was when the Pubs had the House and the Senate. Boehner and Ryan were complete frauds/failures... they simply let Obama dump on them over and over, again and again.

But after Reagan was done that clown George H.W. Bush was a complete flake and moron. He was the Pub that first coined the phrase, New Word Order... freaking Nazi. We read your lips and it said, Yes more new taxes.

Heinlein in one of his books made having to do some service a requirement for getting your franchise. Either military or the peace corps were what my then 10 year old mind took it to mean. It made sense to me. RICO the main character in the book was a rich kid whose parents thought voting was for stupid people.

To the bigger point, there has been significant demographic movement among traditional "core" voters since 2012. That point isn't debatable today.

NYT just ran an article yesterday about the fact that young balcks don't like Biden with nearly the same zeal their parents do. And just look at 2020 election results in SFL to see that Biden had no answer to Trump playing the "socialism" card and destroyed Biden with it.

We will always be a better country when people vote for candidates not parties, the problem is we only have 2 of them and they are both very extreme right now. An option in the middle needs to emerge to save this country from its own self destruction, and the difficulty with that its not going to happen overnight, and someone will have to forfeit an election or two before it does. Looking at POTUS candidates only, I don't think anyone has truly represented my set of interests since Bubba in 96, and that's now going on 30 freaking years.

 

It appears that he has been a professional grifter all his political life... and so are all his children.

I was touting it as a fact, not saying it's good or bad. And I was editing my post to elaborate while you were responding.

I can assure you I've never cast a vote so someone gets a hand out, never taken one, have likely paid more state, federal and local income taxes than most on this board (which I sickly consider my own good fortune), contributed significantly to charity and created tens of thousands of jobs in the construction, service and food/bev industry. Does that sound like someone voting for handouts? Maybe for once you shouldn't generalize so much that life is so binary and start to think of our politics more like an onion that has many layers than a black and white cookie which has 2 obvious components, black and white.

 

Maybe you don’t have to take things so personally? Libbies on this board constantly boast the popularity vote belongs to the democrats. You know it.

Generalities are one way to describe the bigger picture on voters. That’s all I was saying.

 

My intent wasn’t to brag on myself, but in a response to one of my posts you effectively told me I was voting for hand outs. Couldn’t be further from the truth.

Generalities are the reason this country is in so much trouble today. We’re a sound bite society with little to no interest in really getting to the heart of our problems, much less actually solving them.

Immigration, health care, tax reform, election reform, gun safety, mental health, defense, personal liberties, entitlements, etc are all fraught with nuance. But it’s far easier to tweet generalities about the opposition party (or post them on here) than have a real discussion about the issues, and both sides do it. That was the crux of my point. Life isn’t binary, but our politics are increasingly so. To our great detriment.

 

Look, you are voting for some things you may not like or agree with. It’s just the way it works.
I vote conservative and that works against some of my ideals too.
