For the sake of complete honesty, I would like to point out that this was the "typical" poor family by U.S. Census standards in 2005, there were families poorer than that.

But I think it's a huge credit to Capitalism and enterprise that the typical poor family today is living better than the wealthiest people 100 years ago.

Andruw Jones was the youngest player ever to make it to the major leagues. He made it at age 17. Then he got pulled over for a dui. He whipped out another driver’s license which said he was 21. This has nothing to do with the topic but I have always liked the story.

That is really just a more pleasant way of saying exactly what I said, minus the word "relatively." But with that disclaimer, we can be here all day with no example being comparable apart from what YOU consider reasonable.

Lmao…..no. You didn’t say anything approaching what I’ve written. Hence, our disagreement over your terminology.

I get what he's saying even if I disagree with it. At 18 (with some exception), most kids today don't have the experience to vote in an educated manner. Experience at 18 today is world's apart from experience at 18 when the current voting age was established in 1971. I could almost see a move back to 21 (with military exception) as feasible.

Barring every family having the same amount of resources, how exactly do you make it so everyone has exactly the same access to baseball?

Is this a serious post? Please tell me you don’t want to retract this example as showing how some people have wealth as an advantage.
If I had the Bush name and blood, I’d have a Harvard degree! Lol.

Ridiculous to ever believe there could be exactly, or completely-equal-anything in life imo. But, if I show up ready to play, I should expect to participate, and my participation judged without bias.

    Nope.
In the real world, you will always be judged. Sometimes the person judging you will be biased in your direction and other times against you.
It’s the truth and you seem to be working against the tides. It’s hard swimming against the nature of all humans.
Oh and I forgot to mention…you don’t always get to play.

Wow…..you end it all with complete nonsense.
1.That political party no longer exists, the name just hasn’t changed.
    2. I noted “without bias” as the basis for my views.

Edit: I do hope some actual Republicans can somehow manage to salvage the party, though. I just gotta see before believing it’s possible, at this point.

Affirmative action explicitly inserts bias in college application and hiring reviews.

True. I agree with you there.
I think it’s relevant to acknowledge that Affirmative Action initiatives only exist, in the first place, to counter known biases. So……

Affirmative action injects more bias into the system than it counters.

You could also make the argument that plenty of adults in this country lack the intellect to vote in an educated manner. 18 is the age of majority and if you can go to adult prison than you have the right to vote for the people that make the laws. Full Stop

Yes, there are government programs. From what I can tell, based on your arguments here, you think there shouldn't be. And red states typically skimp on the programs, which is a big reason why so many red states are shitholes and rank so low in so many metrics.

As for citizenship, what does that have to do with anything? No I don't think we should grant citizenship to anybody who wants to work here.
