One by one, in public statements and private conversations, Republican lawmakers are beginning to speak up to protect home-state interests, industries and jobs that are endangered by President Donald Trump’s executive actions and the slash-and-burn tactics erupting across the federal government by billionaire Elon Musk ‘s DOGE.

That's what this article is about in a nutshell. Of course, this is predictable. Republicans have always been the "me first" party. They only get upset when something happens that impacts them personally. It'll start as a trickle, but eventually, as republicans start to feel the pain of what Trump is doing, if special carve outs aren't made for them, the complaining will become much louder.

I kind of disagree about one thing. Honestly, representatives of the people, elected into the House of Representatives SHOULD advocate for their constituency. They should speak up for those who elected them and do everything that they can to both protect them and be the mouth that voices their opinion. They, in fact, should do this OVER party loyalty (and bigger donor money), but almost never do anymore.

If there are Republicans who are starting to remember their responsibility then I actually applaud them.

For example, I detest Marjorie Taylor-Greene. However, I give the nimrod credit for one thing. When you look at the lack of highly educated people in her district (less than 20% of her district has a college degree) and largely white population (71%) or rural NW Georgia (though, I still do not understand how 3 counties in Tennessee also fall in her district) she very likely represents how the Majority of her district thinks and votes. At least she does her job.

Meh, republicans have as much empathy for the needs of their constituents as they do the survivors of an elementary school shooting. They thrive on finding a boogeyman to place blame to take the pressure off them, and their constituents always buy it. The boogeyman man they choose is always the people who are the least able to defend themselves and least able to perpetuate change. Cowardly but effective with republicans. Lately however their boogeymen have become more and more nonsensical from DEI, trans story time, to who’s using which bathroom, so who knows if their brains will switch on or not.

I can see why. Trump is working at all speed to take food out of malnourished babies’ mouths and also hunting down single women to confirm they’ve tied their tubes.
