31 Democrats voted against. I wonder what the thinking was?

Perhaps they think he is such an embarrassment they’d rather see him stay.

He was voted into office. It's a huge step to override the voters' wishes. Unless he's done something while in office, let the criminal process play out for things allegedly done before taking office. That's probably the democrats' reasoning, and I agree with it.

He’s done so much nonsense, it almost seems stupid to “let the criminal process play out” to determine his stature in Congress. Particularly considering he essentially conned the voters of his district.

Serving in Congress is not an inalienable right. So i don’t think it should take a criminal conviction. The bar should be higher.

Of course you don’t want to see undemocratic trash like what happened with the Tennessee 3. But Santos’ set of facts seem like a no brainer.

...said the party who not only neglected to vote out, but literally honored a grand wizard of the KKK for distinguished service for those 50 some odd years they looked psssed his *indiscretions*...

...and who, on the same day as this thread, neglected to even censure Omar Ihlan and Rhashid Tlaib for blatant antisemitism.

Keep pelting rocks at your neighbors' windows...nevermind your own.

It goes beyond that. You don't want Santos having access to sensitive information.

    It's well-known that yesterday's "Dixiecrats" are ideologically today's Republicans.
Being against Israel's actions does NOT mean anti-Jew; it means anti-Israeli oppression. I'm anti-Hamas. Does that mean I'm anti-Palestinian?
You hurl rocks with the best of them.

If Santos were a dem you wouldn't object to him staying put I'm sure.
I really don't give a rip whether they have an R or a D after their name. If they are corrupt or break the law, they don't belong there.

It’s possible for some not the majority for sure. They sure seem to be dragging their feet on the ethics probe though.

No, i completely disagree with Raskin. Santos is a total clown - unfit for congress - AND has a series of criminal allegations stacked against him.

Waiting for a criminal conviction should not be the standard here. I get the high brow legal arguing it becomes somewhat of an arbitrary bar if you get ahead of the criminal process, but even a criminal conviction does not actually preclude one from Congress anyway. The issue with Santos is that he essentially got himself elected via criminality. The crimes were not mere happenstance to his position or in his past, they are key to his very existence in Congress. All the facts are pretty damned clear here too (not much in dispute), and can be vetted by the ethics committee investigation. It’s a joke they didn’t expel him. This pretty much says almost nothing warrants expulsion until conviction of serious felonies. Completely ludicrous. No other job in America has such a low standard.

Unless there is something we don’t know about…this guy should be voted out. I thought he already resigned lol…

He is the worst of the worst when it comes to politicians. And that is saying something.

When I get funnies from those posters, sans comments, of course, I know I’ve struck a nerve.
