Reproductive rights effecting college choice

Not sure the current group running the state wants college educated young women here anyway. They may consider this development a feature, not a bug

 

Yep, probably also pleases those here that think UF has become too selective and wishes for a return to the good old days when most anyone could get in.

 

Is it affecting or effecting?

 

UF will be just fine.

It is good we protect the most innocent in this state. Though we could and can still do better.

 

My daughter is graduating from high school this year and was accepted to UF but with all the stupid culture war legislation around abortion, DEI, gay and trans rights she elected to not go to UF. Sad for her mother and I who both grew up in Florida and graduated from UF but we totally support it!

 

So sorry. Our situation is slightly analogous. We used to try to persuade our 26-year-old to move back to Florida from California. We no longer do. Just the opposite. Not safe here.

 

Students gravitating to baby-killing states ?

 

Yeah. I find that stat hard to believe. My guess is the question was a bit leading and kids dont want to answer contrary to the flow.

The truth will be in the numbers.
Lets see if enrollment is impacted 8n any way before putting much stock in this.

 

UF has been woke for some time. There would plenty of comrades to join and support the legal killing of the most innocent while trying to figure out if they are non binary. Binary. Plus. He/her. She/him. Etc etc etc…

 

I would suspect UF has peaked into it perceived academic prominence. You have lots of factors working against it

- anti woke laws and curriculum legislation make it less attractive for both students and professors
- appointment of a conservative politician as president
- abortion laws
- having a quack state surgeon general on staff

Part of a colleges reputational score is based on what other college administrators think of you. There’s no way that holds with the above things going on.

They will I am sure. Always a left campus. Just amusing the reasons you gave. If you have been to UF anytime recently. It has all you imply your daughter wants.

But I get DeSantis has done great to build on what Rick Scott had been doing (even Jeb/Crist was border line a democrat and finally found his home) and it has some of you all messed up lol. And now we are as red as it gets as a State.

 

Doesn’t matter if the campus is woke, the state is turning into a red cesspool so better off not being there as UF’s reputation declines due to the stupidity coming out of the legislature.

 

I can tell you anecdotally that it is impacting hiring.

 

What sort of impacts would be a tell?
Total applications
Out of state applications
Female applications
Grades test score averages?
College ranking U S News.
Lets set some metrics and check it bi annually or annually.

What a bad take.
UF will always be a great school.
