You posted too fast without knowing the situation (shocker.) Jackson should have gone to jail.

 

What if the doctor was drunk, trying to shove a gumball in the mouth of someone having a seizure mistakenly thinking it was a diabetic episode, defied instructions from the person's family to leave the woman alone, defied multiple orders from the police to back his drunk, belligerent ass off anf threatened to kick a cop's ass??

 

To be fair, the cops look a lot less bad now compared to Jackson. Esp if the stuff about the gumball and the family not wanting his “help” is true.

Seems like the witness quoted originally, Shouse, missed a few relevant details.

I'm sorry but where are you seeing this? I've never seen this done in the field as a medic or in the ER under physician care. Protect their head with a pillow, clothing or anything soft but never put anything in their mouth.

If there is a procedure I'm unaware of in a controlled setting under physician care that may be one thing but I just ask because I'd hate to see someone take this advice and try to pry open someone's mouth during a seizure.

You also never put anything in a person's mouth who isn't conscious and able to follow commands. You don't treat someone in a hypoglycemic state with anything oral unless they can self administer it.

Back to the topic at hand, I imagine he would have a hard time justifying his actions as a physician sober or not.

 

That’s excessive. I would only taze Ronny once in the balls. As an aside I bet he’s among the ilk who tan their balls. He might like it.

 

Need to do this to make sure someone is not swallowing their tongue. Doesn’t mean that you leave it there.

 

Again, this is not true. I'm not trying to derail the thread but this is incorrect information and people should absolutely not do this. Respectfully.

 

Interesting contrast between the thread started by @Gator515151 regarding the benefits of being respectful in confrontations by law enforcement officers and Dr. Jackson's belligerent behavior as an entitled a-hole. Even if the police should have allowed him to continue treating the child since he is a physician he still should have discussed the matter as a reasonable adult. Although Jackson's condition wasn't really clear it seems that the more prudent decision made by police at the scene would have been to have the child treated by a sober EMT rather than a drunk doctor.

 

I remember being taught this in a first aid course over 45 years ago. When we took first aid to adopt kids it was all about protect the head.

 

The swallowing your tongue mystique has been disproven countless times over the decades, but it still persists. Ymmv
