I just don't see Torrence being up there if Dexter isn't. And I know Torrence had a good year last year but imo I wouldn't put him over Dexter.
Don't believe that this has been posted, but Kentucky's top RB Chris Rodriguez has been suspended for their first 3-4 games (including the Gators game)
They have a solid room. Smoke would be the #2 I would think as he has the most exp and scheme knowledge. Drennen, McClain, and some new kid they picked up on an FCS transfer. Smoke will carry the load imo, or try to. He's not an every down back and they will lose a solid pass catcher without Rodriguez. They may have things figured out by game 5-6 but not by the time they visit the Swamp.
I do not know the details or history but will preemptively credit their staff for taking significant disciplinary action.
They have solid RB, but it isn't going to really matter who they are. They are the beneficiaries of the OL. They go as the OL goes, which is usually quite good under Stoops.
Right. My recollection is these past two cycles have produced some solid OL/OT types in thei classes.
Gators starting LG Ethan White its considered day to day after he suffered a minor setback and underwent a procedure to correct a undisclosed ailment. White didnt play in either of his team Fall scrimmages. Its believed that Josh Braun will replace White.
No surprise since defenses are normally ahead of offenses. Also, did not we recruited better on D than O under the previous staff?
Five Gators earn preseason coaches ALL-SEC honors: OG O'Cyrus Torrence (first team) LB Brenton Cox (second team) DL Gervon Dexter (second team) LB Ventrell Miller (third team) and Safety Trey Dean (third team) by the way Torrence also has been named AP preseason second team All American.
But it is reassuring that we seem to have a D that actually has a pulse for the first time in ages. I personally can't wait to see well schemed, disciplined, sure tackling, hard-nosed defense as a regularly occurring thing again at UF. This not being able to stop a damn thing on the ground or on third down crap has really gotten old. I will be ecstatic if we field a solid, effective D that keeps us in or ahead of the game until the underrated OL and RBs start breaking off big plays in the third period - to go along with a few daggers in the heart from AR & company. The thought of being able to even hope we can win a big game with defense again, at some point in the foreseeable future, truly gladdens my heart.
