Yup, gonna take a minute and Napier, we all hope, is finally the guy! Couple of cycles away! I hope in the not so distant future the big games will involve the Gators. While our game against A&M is important. And epic battle is happening in Athens this weekend. For some reason it reminds me a little bit of that time Utah beat Bama. Big burly tough players up against seemingly lighter players with more finesse. At any rate, it should be a good one. Go Gators. Beat A&M!!
I wish our offense seemed innovative, but instead it seems more like a ball control, protected, don't make mistakes. If it doesn't progress we will need one heck of a defense to level the playing field.
Honestly, a lot of philosophical similarities to McElwain. Just younger, a better recruiter, and more of a CEO role rather than an offensive specialist.
i dont want to intentionally throw cold water on all the scheme angst going on... CBN may be running totally different schemes next year. Look at what Coach O did at LSU. I 'm sure everyone would agree that Coach O wasnt an offensive Einstein. He went out and got Burrow in the portal and hired Joe Brady and he instantly had one of the most productive Offensive teams in NCAA history. C B N is very smart, and we need to give him time to see what he does. im sure he will assess in the off season.
It's fine to run that much, but when you do pass, you need big plays and TD's, not incompletions and INT's. If Napier wants that kind of offense, he needs to strive for the typical Urban Meyer Ohio State offense. 2013: 635 rush att, 368 pass att, 38 pass TD 2014: 690 rush att, 409 pass att, 42 pass TD 2015: 567 rush att, 325 pass att, 19 pass TD 2016: 583 rush att, 409 pass att, 26 pass TD 2017: 589 rush att, 440 pass att, 39 pass TD 2018: 570 rush att, 561 pass att, 51 pass TD We're on pace for, what, 12 passing TD's?
IMO, the analogy isn't Dumbo, it is Mike White. I knew we weren't going to get an OC this year, the real question is how much "learning" he has done this year. Mike never did learn. Not that he can't figure things out by Year 3, just that this fan base isn't going to give him the "Mike White" treatment.
Speaking of men's basketball, remember the mess Lon Kruger inherited coming in after the 89-90 season? Year 1 of his reign was brutal--kind of had to play the hand he was dealt, do the best you can, and then CLEAN HOUSE by getting in his type of recruits that would make HIS culture. It laid the groundwork for the future and got us a Final 4 in 94. This is Napier now. Playing the hand you are dealt, doing the best you can while getting in what you will need to win. It'll work. I have 100% belief in Billy Napier. I just want Napier to stay and see it through to a Title. Kruger left, and Donovan took over.
I would certainly agree that if Coach O could do it, Coach Napier can. We look like a great opportunity for a transfer QB as well.
IMO, that's a reflection of two things... - We have a QB who can't find a consistent groove in the passing game, as evidenced by very a subpar completion% and the all too frequent interceptions and mental mistakes - Secondly, since the KY debacle, there's not a coach in the SEC, starting with CBN, who doesn't know it and hasn't coached accordingly
THIS! Billy sees our young kids as the future and is preparing them for next year and beyond. Recruits are watching. (And Miami is paying to keep them away! So I digress) We really could use some bad-ass portal players to sure up the weaknesses. And while it appears the recruiting will be pretty decent, there might only be a few real game-ready freshman contributors in the class. Billy is young. And what his offense is currently, might look different down the road. See second half of Georgia game, nice adjustment. I just hope the kids can dig deep and get a road win this weekend. Go Gators.
We are good and totally on right track. Billy Napier IS the man for this job. We WILL return to relevance. Billy is a straight up winner of a man and leader who is hungry. There will be no BS, no shortcuts, no putting up with nonsense as we win an NCAA Title.
A qb makes his lines job easy or hard. It’s not hard for Georgias front seven when they aren’t scared of the passer.
Mullen has a long history of developing QB's and getting excellent QB play. Emory was an outlier. AR needs to play better and BN needs to coach better. Point and period.
I think CBN will not hire an OC this off season as it would not allow for two o line coaches. If he makes that move, it will be after next season. The leg hummers and the hillbilly’s have quarterbacks in their mid twenties. AR is three years out of high school. I am optimistic that he will put on a show next year.
