In this thread, the patriots who love America don't want the IRS to be able to collect taxes.

    From rich people. *

    * But then, they voted for a billionaire who hasn't paid taxes ever. (Because he really loves America. And so do they!)

No need for the IRS anymore. Sales tax errrr tariffs it is.

He asserted that the US had no income tax prior to 1913, and it was the tariff system that made America rich in the past and gave previous presidents the capital to do work for the country.

“You know the US in 1870-1913 — all tariffs and that was the richest period in the history of the US — relatively speaking. And they set up a blue ribbon committee, the great tariff commission of 1887 and this commission had one function: ‘what to do with all the money that we took in?’” he claimed.

“It was so enormous that they had no idea and what to do with all of the money that we had. And again, Teddy Roosevelt was a beneficiary … and he did all of those national parks and all of the other things… he was given a vast amount of money, and that was all made through tariffs. We had no income tax, the income tax came in 1913,” he added.

Seems like a dead end (eventually). Equilibrium would cause business to move to the US and it would be a downtrend on salaries if no income taxes. Have to insert a national sales tax or VAT. Weird times.

^ The good thing is that we can all be certain that Rapey Don has thought this through and has a well reasoned, detailed plan for the USA to maintain revenue receipt without income tax collection.

Either that or he's just tired of having to pay lawyer fees to continue not paying any personal income tax at all.

He's dead serious on his tariffs making up the income tax difference. Funny listening to the undereducated crowd defend it.

The X post comment section is that proof. How can anyone believe they will magically have $X in taxes back in their pocket? Everything will cost more if the importer passes off the cost. It becomes a consumption tax that is regressive.

How can they believe magic? Easily explained. Lack of even basic economic education (high school level econ covers this?) combined with social media brain damage.

Knowing nothing about this, I was wondering if he was just babbling nonsense to distract people from all the current insane criminality, like cancelling Congressionally approved funding and..... well, almost everything else.

Its basically a national sales tax. It will be as regressive as hell. I am enjoying watching the monster eat its maker. The working class embraced him, made him, spurned the advice of union leadership, and his policies will bet the largest shift in tax burden ever devised. It was a brilliant rich guy move for rich guys everywhere.
