Sounds good, as long as he doesn’t get “Quezzied”

Yep. The only people who pay for Ivy League educations are those who have so much money they won't really notice tuition come out of their accounts. The amount of money in those endowments is insane, and almost everyone outside the 1% gets nearly 100% financial aid.

It's kind of the point of college: meeting people not like yourself who you will need to work with in the future. Otherwise you would just do online classes only.

A big point, but not the only point. Going off to college is often the first time a young adult is in the position of having to manage his/her life with no outside guidance. Sink or swim baby. Lots of smart people crash & burn because they didn’t manage their time and their priorities. I screwed up plenty - depending upon your level of self-discipline, many don’t make it.

College also demonstrates the ability to learn. So many jobs you end up in don’t necessarily depend totally upon what you learned from textbooks, but also require the ability to learn as an employee.

I honestly don’t know what an online degree proves. If I was in a hiring position I’d be very skeptical
