If he wasn't a good kid he would already be in the portal. When we played UConn the announcers highlighted a kid who got zero attention from them outta high school but evolved and did well enough to the point where UConn was looking at him in the portal. Uconn coach Penders apologized for not recruiting the kid in high school but dude stopped him and said no worries in your position I wouldn't have recruited me either. It's a different situation but there's only so many opportunities the coaches can give you. All they to go on is what you put out there for them to see. The good ones accept responsibility and the need to improve while the bad ones blame it on imaginary factors.
RE Cags: He’s not got the experience and maturity of an upperclassman like Wyatt. I’m not surprised he’s not as effective as he was earlier in the year. As I noted elsewhere, it makes me more impressed that he continues to make himself important to success, even with singles that end up producing the game winning run, driven in by a teammate. RE Cade: Are you telling me that a kid that should still be in HS might be mentally overwhelmed by the stage he’s on, esp given the expectations we put on him? He’s a defensive asset at 2B and might snap out of his thrall any minute at the plate.
Seriously I just want to know what information you’re holding back, I’m more than happy to wait until after the natty!
