Who’s going to the regional? I’m hoping to go up on Friday. Looking forward to it. Flying solo, but I’m sure getting a single ticket won’t be too hard. Any Gators in the Raleigh area have any tips regarding parking, eating around the arena or anything else that would be helpful. Thanks in advance!
I'll be there the entire weekend. I'm driving up today from South Carolina to go to the open practice. My dad and another friend are coming up tomorrow.
I live right down the road In Wilmington, but my son has games all weekend and he is the only one that outranks our Gators. There is an outside chance we might can sneak over Sunday at the last minute, but I doubt it
— So since you’re in the area, what’s the parking situation like? Are there places to park around the arena that might not be as pricey as what the arena is charging?
well, your son probably has games many weekends and for many years in the area. How often do the gators play in Raleigh in the NCAA tourney? just kidding! Well, I’d probably take my kid to the gators game and have them miss their own game(s) due to the rarity of the occasion.
When he was younger I would have, but HS is a different beast. I've taught him to be there for his brothers in the locker room/dugout.
The Lenovo center is a shared lot with Carter-Finley Stadium (NC State) Parking is all on site. Its also at the fairgrounds area. (And a little bit out of the city center) I know for hockey games and concerts it's about $20 to park.
OK, let's see how this works. My favorite free parking area is off Wade Park Blvd across from the stadium. There is some on road parking, but also some businesses back there that I've used on nights and weekends. There's a paved path that takes you through a tunnel under the busy road, to the stadium parking lot. It's a bit of a walk, but not too bad. It does get pretty dark at night. We usually carry flashlights...and we've never felt unsafe. I'll try posting a map below with the area where I park in the rectangle. The arrow points to the path that goes under the road. As for food, there's really nothing much in walking distance from the arena. That really sucks. They're going to be spending a few billion bucks over the next 10 or so years to fix that. I suggest finding food somewhere on the way before arriving. There are decent food/beer choices inside the arena, but they'll be quite pricey. Hope that helps...
Looks like I found my new spots when I go to the Lightning games and concerts! Didnt even know about the tunnel. As for food, it is close to the slowest Wendy's in the country, if that helps people.
Actually, Bru's Public House right by the parking (inside the rectangle on my map) looks pretty good. I might try that tomorrow: Bru's Public House | Located at Wade Park - Raleigh, NC
The new development plans look really cool.almsot like a mini town around the arena and stadium. It really needs an upgrade. The arena is lagging a bit by NHL standards and it has a very 90's feel to it, but the upgrade renderings look first class
driving up tonight after the womens game in Gville...putting in the miles, have my usual spot in Apex set up for the weekend.
Many years ago Dwayne Dixon played on our intramural hoops team. We gave him some good natured chit about missing a game to go to the White House after the football team won a Natty. He correctly predicted we would win the game without him.
i assumed it was like kids travel ball. High school would be different. I’d leave him behind and go watch Florida. lol I kid! I’d watch from my phone in the stands while watching high school sports.
