Ahmad Black, apparently posted this comment after last night's game: “So we fire a coach for not recruiting good players. Then hire a new coach and get mad when he doesn’t win with the SAME PLAYERS THAT GOT THE COACH A YEAR AGO FIRED….You guys gotta stop…”

We finish the season losing to Georgia, Texas A&M, and Florida State. We cannot stop a nosebleed on defense and we make average quarterbacks look like Heisman candidates every single week.

If I may make a point, are you sure we aren't better in Game 7 than in Game 1? Can we not also say that we just barely won against a disciplined but undersized (by SEC standards) Utah team but the play has indeed gotten somewhat better (with the exception of AR IMO). So why the difference in what can be happening and what we see?

Simply, the team(s) we are now playing are at a level better than the ones we had before...AND they have been getting better also. You think we are the only ones who grow as the season moves along? This concept that we are the only dynamic and the rest is static is just plain silly.

According to the current CBS poll the Gators are ranked number 40. I believe the worst Gator recruiting ranking in the last five years was 18th. That looks like underformance to me and thus far I have not seen much to improve the situation.

You are right, it's silly this is the worst 3rd down defense in college football. 131st! In many statistics this team is worse than last year. That's just silly.

The current recruiting ranking is 8th and will likely finish higher. Not sure what point you are trying to make.

Spencer Rattler comes to mind. With his ability and our passive zone defense, you might want to rethink your first sentence!

Hey, I tried to talk you down from the ledge.

Jump if it makes you feel better, but just realize that it isn't the jump that hurts.

Just because I say the defense sucks doesn't mean I'm on a ledge. Not calling for anyone to be fired. I've been adamant for awhile that a massive talent upgrade is needed.

We could still lose those even with marked improvement in the D. But if we continue to lose like last weekend, or even if win in spite of terrible D play then their will need to be changes made at the end of the season.

We can talk all we want about the empty cupboard but I do not want coordinators/coaches who need four and five stars just to beat middle of the road teams.

Getting a bit concerned at this point. 131st in the nation on third down conversions. Really? My eyes are bad I'm sure this is a misread on my part...

If you look at your post that I replied and then your reply to it, I think I am within boundaries to call it as I see it. So, let me try this one more time, if you are somewhere close to sanity.

Have you ever heard of the phrase, "beating a dead horse"? How does that help, either you or others who ARE on the ledge? You state...now...your take is we need a LOT more/better players. Okay, so your points get you...?

I think you are taking my responses to seriously and probably yourself as well. I'm beating no dead horse. You don't see me constantly starting threads complaining about this defense.

This was my post that somehow indicates I'm on a ledge and need to step back..

    Sarcasm is a thing.

Dick Winters fired a Company Commander in the middle of battle. If leadership is getting guys killed (losing games in our case by allowing unlimited opposition offensive plays) then why wait? We don't have the 131st talented D, yet here we are. Embarrassing as hell and I'm sick of it.

See the IAKOW articled linked elsewhere. Pretty level headed look at how much the D sucks.

Okay, so your rhetoric is sarcasm. You aren't on the ledge and just want to "make light of the present". Good to know. Because, heavens, no one should attempt sarcasm and fail at it. Maybe you need to practice your sarcasm skills...just like the Gator defense needs to practice 3rd downs and basic tackling.

And no, I am not being sarcastic (just in case you are still using old methods to determine what is sarcasm), I am being snarky.

And quite frankly identifying revisionist history in the making.

The problem is that most of our defensive players ARE 4 stars and a couple 5 stars (with four 3 stars)...

This is just a quick look. Yes, many are young and will grow, but we only have three 3-stars among this group of defenders. And yes, I know, star average isn't everything. We have a helluva lot more talent than most of our opponents thus far - including Tennessee. Indeed, IMO, the only team that has more than us is Georgia and possibly Texas A&M. Unless Mullen and Co. are horrible talent evaluators, I have to think there are a lot of talented players out of high school.

You are still claiming the posts I quoted were "just nice sarcasm"? REALLY?

As I said, if that was your point, you need practice. Honest.
