Getting political assistance from foreign government representatives? Yes, that's illegal because they did you a personal favor and now they'll expect a favor in return - a favor given on behalf of the United States.

We want a President making decisions in the best interest of the country. We don't always agree across the political aisle as to what those are, but as long as someone is operating in good faith on behalf of the country it's ok. It's not ok if they have to give favorable terms or some sort of allowance to another country to avoid being blackmailed.

You are making a very good point as to why the Hunter Biden stuff needs to be investigated!!!!
Besides I thought Joe was not in office when some of this happen, so no big deal, Trump wasn't in office when this supposed collusion happened also.

Maybe it is if the source is a foreign potentially hostile government.

I notice you never answered my question. Since exchanging internal campaign documents to a group trying to illegally boost your campaign isn't collusion, what is?

Probably rather than maybe. Under the federal law foreign citizens are prohibited from making contributions to US political campaigns. Although it's not completely clear, providing information on a political opponent (and accepting that information) comes very close to a violation.

Looks like the republicans really dont want to address Hunter in public. What are they hiding???

Hunter Biden unexpectedly at Capitol as House Republicans move to hold him in contempt – live

House Republicans clearly did not expect Hunter Biden to appear in person for an oversight committee hearing where they are considering whether to hold him in contempt of Congress.

After walking into the hearing room, Republican Nancy Mace laid into him, prompting objections from Democrats. “Who bribed Hunter Biden to be here today? That’s my first question,” began Mace in the first remarks by a lawmaker directed at Biden since he arrived in the room. “Second question: You are the epitome of white privilege coming into the oversight committee, spitting in our face, ignoring a congressional subpoena to be deposed. What are you afraid of? You have no balls to come up here.” At that last comment, Biden appeared to wave his hand in a sign of exasperation.

Democrats were not happy with that line of questioning, with one lawmaker responding, “if the gentlelady wants to hear from Hunter Biden, we can hear from him right now. Mr. Chairman, let’s take a vote and hear from Hunter Biden.”

If this were 2007, you'd have to say House Oversight was totally PWNED by HB.

    Utter humiliation.

They should have had a band there to play Entry of the Gladiators for this clown show.

Hunter doesn't get to dictate the forum, and if the Oversight Committee wants to hold him in contempt then they should.

But only while also holding in contempt the numerous Republicans who ignored the subpoena's issued by the Oversight Committee of the last Congress.

It's laughable (actually its more nauseating) hearing these clowns prattle on today about "the rule of law" while wanting to hold Hunter accountable, but remaining silent when actual members of their own party did worse. At least Hunter had the balls to show up. And his testifying in full daylight would seem to be the best way to handle this.

We are either a nation of laws for everyone or we are a nation of laws for no one. There shouldn't be an in-between based on your team's uniform.

I agree, except that anytime they have these hearings public, each person gets five minutes then the other side. I don't believe much gets accomplished as most from both sides to more grandstanding then actually asking questions. I will say though that when they had the University Presidents appear, I think we learned something new out of it. So, let it be public and see where the chips fall.

Every appeal or legal tactic in his current court cases isn't that he's innocent it's that he has the right to do whatever he wants.

Y'all didn't get upset when Hillary paid Christopher Steele for the Russian hooker BS but you object to trying to get political research on an opponent?

Should the Republicans on the committee be held in contempt for ignoring a subpoena?
