Receiving benefits before and after entering politics as business people does not create the same appearance of impropriety as a deadbeat crack addict receiving apparent "gifts" from China and Ukraine.

No, I'm saying business people continuing to be business people after they enter the political sphere does not resemble corruption in any way comparable to career corrupt politicians having deadbeat crack addict sons leveraging favors from foreign adversaries using daddy's name.

Take off your partisan goggles for a sec and ask yourself if that is really any different than Ivanka getting numerous patents in China after her dad was elected president when they were unobtainable for years beforehand? Or Jarad getting a $2b capital infusion from the Saudis?

Trading on your family name is a generational business in American politics. But that’s hardly proof an actual crime was committed, or if one was, that it tracks back to the principal.

The simple fact is that nothing really tracks back to Joe yet, and that Hunter is just a shitty dude. And I’m fine to investigate but not allowing Hunter to testify publicly is all I need to see they have nothing on Joe, and want the hearing to turn into a closed door spin machine. No more no less.

Want to open an impeachment inquiry? Have at it. But when you can’t tell the American public what the crime is beforehand , you’re really just opening a fishing expedition and wasting both our time and money.

The irony of Democrats complaining about fishing expeditions will never be lost on me. A Clinton plant loaded with bogus information is what sparked a series of Trump investigations.

But I appreciate your willingness for an investigation. Mostly reasonable take.

I'm kind of on the fence on the whole idea where politicians who had a career in business should be forced to sell off their businesses when they enter public office. But I still think that's different from lifelong career politicians who have been in DC longer than some parents of college students have been alive.... having a son who nobody would touch with a ten foot pole (apart from hookers, strippers, and sister-in-laws), except foreign adversaries giving him money for throwing the weight of his father's name. That alone does not necessarily prove wrongdoing on Joe's part, but it looks bad, and it certainly warrants a much closer look.

You really have no clue. I’m not backing off anything. I only and simply stated interest rules on related party loans. Loan principal and repayment of principal is not an issue. You seem to think this is income or something more than it is. It is not and I have never even remotely implied that it is. Again just shows you are discussing something of which you know very little. For the rest of you I made no claims of illegality, no implication of anything earth shattering. Simply showed how repayment of a related party loan would show up somewhere on a tax return and that has to do with the required interest element. I’m having fun knowing and breaking a cardinal rule of never getting into a logical discussion with a diehard leftist. But it’s been fun. Enjoy the rest of your day.

Hunter Biden is FAR more likely to pass a drug test today than Donald Trump, Jr. since you're hammering on sons of famous people with drug problems.

You absolutely convinced me that the threshold for the impeachment of Hunter Biden has been met. By the way the crack addict was a partner in an venture capital firm that he founded with a partner unlike the business people that you mentioned who in effect inherited their businesses from their fathers.
    FYI:
Inside Hunter Biden’s multimillion-dollar deals with a Chinese energy company

China Energy have been previously reported and were included in a Republican-led Senate report from 2020, a Washington Post review confirmed many of the key details and found additional documents showing Biden family interactions with Chinese executives.

Over the course of 14 months, the Chinese energy conglomerate and its executives paid $4.8 million to entities controlled by Hunter Biden and his uncle, according to government records, court documents and newly disclosed bank statements, as well as emails contained on a copy of a laptop hard drive that purportedly once belonged to Hunter Biden.

The Post did not find evidence that Joe Biden personally benefited from or knew details about the transactions with CEFC, which took place after he had left the vice presidency and before he announced his intentions to run for the White House in 2020.
The article went into a great deal of detail into the transactions involving Hunter and his uncle and it's reasonable to infer that he did profit quite handsomely by intentionally created the illusion that he was able to influence his father. That being said there is absolutely no substantive evidence that Hunter actually did so.

There is no legal or tax requirement requiring a loan to bear interest. However, if a loan does not bear interest, interest will be imputed. So, if Joe Biden loaned his son some money, Joe might have a small amount of interest income. Alternatively, he might have made a gift to Hunter.

As an aside, on one of Donald Trump’s financial disclosure forms, there appears to have been a $50 million loan to Trump from one of his companies which appears to be some sort of tax dodge.

Okay, the problem for you is that your past comments don't go away. Thank you for backing off the claims about how this would be reported and how it couldn't have come from the S-Corp when it was exposed that you had no basis for those comments. All I was going for. It has been fun. Enjoy the rest of your day.

OT: This is the correct analysis under Sec 7872. An alternative is imputed interest income under Sec 483/ 1274 to the lender followed by a bad debt expense if no interest was ultimately paid. The related party has Sec 108 cancellation of debt income on the accrued but unpaid interest, assuming they had an interest expense deduction.

on topic: it would show up on the tax returns for both parties.

Seems that Hunter Biden Derangement Syndrome (HBDS) has reached epidemic proportions. Apparently a number of conservative posters to this boards are inflicted with the syndrome as are almost all Republican members of the House of Representatives.

Because they gave to slick Willie and that's an undisputed fact... why not give to Biden when you can get away with it. Do you even remember how hard Biden tried to tell us all that the Chinese are our friends.

Yeah, he and his son have dealings with the Chinese that has to come out in this impeachment trial.
