The reality is he hasn’t shown anything that shows he’s a SEC caliber starter Same with Miller But I’m rooting for them and I hope one of them makes a huge leap
Interesting article and series being started. I hope Mertz surprises the heck out of us! Go Gators!!! Envisioning Roles for Florida's Transfers: QB Graham Mertz
Has he taken a snap for an SEC team yet? Again, I will reserve judgment till I see how he performs with our players and with our coaches. Players can improve and grow with the right scheme and development. I, like you, hope he does well and will support him and our team/coaches..Go Gators!
He has years of starting experience. The book is pretty much written. He has AR passing with Tom Brady running. His running won’t change but hopefully he dramatically improves as a passer
Well buddy, “rooting for them” includes not posting about all their flaws and even occasionally saying something positive about them
The book was written on Jeff driskel too.... Jeff Driskel College Stats, School, Draft, Gamelog, Splits | College Football at Sports-Reference.com
So the book is written on Mertz but AR is going to thrive in the NFL? I mean you're adamant we got AR all wrong and that it was Napier who held him back with his offense but Mertz is just Mertz? And I realize that example is flawed since you're not a fan of Napiers offense but regardless of how you feel Wisconsins offense was horrific by all accounts. This board would have died laughing at the notion driskel would throw for 4000 yards, 27 TDs and 8 picks. Don't care that it was at LA Tech. He made it in the league for a decade now
That goes For every qb In the SEC who has yet to play meaningful snaps Regardless of their star Ranking or stats in high school
I agree. I put these in a Swamp Gas thread discussing next season and Mertz. There is a disconnect between where he was coming out of high school and the many schools offering him and what he has shown so far at Wisconsin with different OCs and QB coaches every year. I think he has a high ceiling.
I think Oregon fans were happy with Bo Nix this past year and who in the SEC would have gave him a chance?
