The "free agent" era is only one of the many moving parts. Others include getting paid at another place (obviously what it feels like) more than at your "home". But the other is when you are told you are not as important to the team's future as you thought you were. And so, players get "cut". This 105-player hard cap to me is huge. What I am not sure is what exactly is a scholarship? Perhaps it is like a player who gets drafted by the NFL instead of having to sign as an undrafted free agent. It is an honor.

I truly hate we get to feel good about the quality of a player's play and then told that home means little. Hard to root for mercenaries. It is what it is.

I’m pretty sure he paid $0 for his knee surgery and rehab, and development while here. if you going to put stupid shit out like this, you are a selfish prick. If you want to get more $$, I’m good with it, but do it was some class and professionalism.

That very well may explain why we didn't write checks to him. He's young and made a mistake by posting this. I dunno if it can be rectified.

But..my sense of Napier is that he is a good judge of character, and wants to build a family like culture and loyalty. The players have played hard for him.

One of my thoights is that he would possibly be third next year and that does suck for him. He wants to gets snaps as a senior and could easily be in the 10 snap range here. I feel bad for him

He’s not prototypical NFL size. I think he’s trying to see what he can squeeze. No better time for him.
Players have the leverage now. Sooner or later it will swing back to the institution.

I moved this over to Awesome Recruiting where we've decided to discuss all portal players transferring in or out. Candyman can decide how to organize it all going forward.

The problem with your point of view may be that we have no idea what the number is, but it's gonna take to keep any player. I think a lot more money is changing hands and people realize and decisions just have to be made. It's a deep position, McRae is probably going to get his money either way.

Sooo.. this is the problem. As a coach in college ball, how do you deal with every player wanting a raise every year?

    Nightmare.

We have to have rules, pro style rules.

Is it up to the coaches to determine who to pay and who not to pay and how much? If so, then there is no better time to hire a GM type position for the football department. As a general rule football coaches don't excel at that kind of job.

Good luck Jack. A wonderful football player and one every Gator fan enjoyed. One more year you would have been a Gator legend. You will be missed.

There will be another team that has a similar player enter the portal and we may land them. Players are looking for a payday but also maybe a starting position. What's kind of ridiculous is it seems like players are just trading one similar situation for another similar situation.
