Well, much of this might have been that the body type is similar, but Weaks also seemed pretty in control as a senior. I recall he got to rim with some regularity, though the youngsters seemed to take over this niche by the end of the season.
He didn't play better so much as he ran a better system. Sometimes hard to be dynamic in an offense that slowly brings up the ball and starts the half court offense with 10 seconds on the clock.
THE main difference isn't who is who and why on the court, it is plainly the difference between White and Golden. White is too anal when it comes to PG play and the rest of the offense. Golden appears to have a more dynamic mind.
Love to hear this from Golden about fsu ... obviously we performed; we played really, really well. I think human nature, the reaction is to kind of just relax a little bit and be like, ‘OK, we are good.’ Hell no! If we do that, you see what happens across college basketball every night. You see teams that lose games that they don't expect to lose, whether it's bad luck or just taking the foot off the gas. And that's something that we're just gonna do everything we can to not allow to happen. But I would say that's the biggest fear is getting comfortable or complacent. I can't imagine us getting that way”
Dude, it was a year ago. You want me to cut and paste box scores for you? Go look at the first four games. His assit to turnover ratio was very good, he seemed like a steadying force compared to the wild man Appleby from what I recall, and he averaged about 9 points per game. You named him Best Transfer in your 2022 Preseason Primer article and said "The Gators not only have their first true point guard since Andrew Nembhard last ran the UF offense in 2020, but one who very well could be among the best and most experienced in all of college basketball," so I guess I wasn't the only one who thought he looked like a skilled, mature, tough point guard that could excel in the tournament when the season started.
I like Richard coming off the bench. Hopefully Kugel realizes we have a lot more talent this year and he doesn't have to press as much.
I would love to see Pullin's +/- stat for the two games he appeared. Definitely a better team when he is on the floor.
During last night's game they said at one point during the game we were +22 during the 22 minutes Pullin was on the floor. He had 7 assists and one TO.
Just unbelievable so far. His shot plain ugly won’t ever be reliable, but his pace, vision, patience, and poise just add so much. He is to point guards what Richard is to efficient wings. Is that 12 assists against 1 turnover in two games?
Never seen such a flat FT in my life. But they went in. And he shoots a high percentage around the rim, which he doesn't seem to have much trouble getting to. He is such a powerful dribbler and so big opposing guards can't seem to turn him over. I really like his game.
Surprised that Fawcett's cover story about the game failed to mention him. We would have beaten Virginia had he been eligible
Pullin is very smart. When it looked like Pitt was closing in on our lead, he didn’t panic. Instead he became aggressive and took control back. Forcing fouls and keeping the team in control while they attempted to press us. It became obvious whose team this is. He should absolutely be our starting PG.
Agree but wouldn't be surprised if Golden waits one more game for consistency in NYC. On the other hand, maybe starting him tomorrow night would give us a boost.
I guess I don’t see the concern over who starts. Pullin will play the same number of minutes regardless (28-30, if last night is any indication), and he will be at the one when he does play. I actually like him off the bench because it stabilizes those frosh bigs. I don’t love pairing him with Aberdeen, though. Floor spacing was a little rough with those two. If I’m Golden, I stick with what worked yesterday, then maybe reevaluate depending how things go against a good group of Baylor guards.
We started off the Pitt game 7 points down (I believe) before bringing in Pullin. That could be trouble against a Baylor-level team. I would rather bring Richard off the bench. However, if Handlogten can't play, we could consider starting 4 guards.
