Right, you post your meme joke; and I suppose I'm supposed to come back from the other extreme and suggest that you have to set yourself on fire to invoke real change. Seriously, though, that kind of highlights how hard people try to come together on things like this. The protests would be much more effective if they didn't take a completely contrary view and instead tried to present a more reasonable view highlighting the wrong doings on EACH side. It's hard to suggest that anybody looking for a genuine solution is unwilling to do such a thing. I suspect more people would take the protestors seriously if they had a more reasonable approach (why it's easier to have a civil discussion with somebody who is not shouting chants at you).

I cant think of a single protest ever where someone didnt say some version of this - there is no way to do it right for the people that basically dont respect protest as a form of speech or delivery of grievances, and especially with people who dont agree with the sentiment of the protest altogether. Also, its not like people arent attempting persuasion on this issue elsewhere. You can find countless speeches, articles, books, films etc on the subject. Protests are just one brick in the wall.

History shows that if you protest correctly, you will be loved and accepted (thread)
