The GOP has actively been trying to get rid of SS for years, lol. What rock have you been living under or are you just being willfully ignorant?
I was at Social Security the other day with a young man I mentor. He has a learning disability (he can't read, write, or drive) and a mom with a neurological disease that has taken her eyesight and memory. My hope was that I could get him a little help financially. So far, nothing. While at SS, I never heard English spoken once. Mostly Spanish, but Ukrainian and some Creole kept coming up on the instructions screen. My guess is that illegals and refugees will no longer get social security or any taxpayer money. The government workforce is bloated due to the amount of people we are writing checks to, and it's coming to an end. I do not know this as a fact, but my guess is this is something that will come out in the next few months.
Or maybe it gets real bad and we literally get to do that. The Terror 2.0, featuring MAGA as the main course.
Feels dude. It's always feels with these guys. Let's just say he has a "hunch". I wouldn't expect much more than that.
Hard to believe VP Trump had four years to find all this "fraud, waste and abuse" the first time and just missed it...
Eh. We have DOGE and some really smart minds that can write the necessary code. It’s not the computers but the coding that likely reduces the need for so many employees.
Certainly there will be opportunities to modernize processes; we already heard the SSA is running an old database and couldn’t get the $9M to update it and now people want to cut their funding? If history is any guide DOGE will not act moderately but immediate without nuance or a long term plan. When I see DOGE talking about a 50% cut my interpretation is they think the current workforce is twiddling its thumbs and they can cut it in half tomorrow. I don’t believe it can happen quickly without a significant deterioration in services and will very likely take a financial commitment to modernize. If DOGE lays out a long term plan to modernize systems and processes that will result in greater efficiencies and savings I’d be 100% on board.
As you probably know then it can take over a year for an SSI or SSDI applicant to get approved. It did with my autistic son. Cuts in staff will surely make it worse. I’m all for reasonable efforts to reduce fraud or create efficiency. But this is exactly the wrong way to go about it. I have no reason to think there is widespread SS going to illegals. I’m not sure how that would even happen.
High Ender Logic Flexing: 1. "Illegals" are getting all the SS money. 2. Fire all the workers. 3. No one to give the "Illegals" all the SS money.
