I’ll just stick with two negative gdps. If that happens I’ll call it a recession

I was simply pointing out that the standard 2 quarters negative GDP is not how the government has ever decided there’s a recession. It’s more of a rule of thumb for a complex issue. Use whatever measure you want to.

Interesting ... and wonder why the Biden administration didn't do any of this. Also ... are lefties still griping about the price of eggs or are those eggs now on their collective progressive face?

Egg Prices Plummet! USDA’s Bold Action Brings Relief to Farmers and Families

WASHINGTON, D.C. —U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins announced a series of advancements in the Department of Agriculture’s five-pronged strategy to combat highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) and ease the burden of soaring egg prices. During a stakeholder update on Thursday, March 20, Rollins highlighted the tangible results achieved since the plan was implemented less than a month ago.

“Egg prices are falling, farmers are getting the relief they need, and we are seeing meaningful progress in the fight against avian flu,” Rollins stated. “USDA is making targeted investments and driving innovation to keep our food supply strong and affordable — delivering real results for American families and producers.”

The strategy has already yielded measurable progress, with wholesale egg prices dropping nearly 50% since February 26. The New York wholesale egg price, which previously peaked at $8.53 per dozen, has fallen to $4.08 as of March 19. While Easter-related demand may briefly affect prices, the sustained downward trend suggests the USDA’s interventions are working.

To curb the spread of HPAI, the USDA has ramped up biosecurity assessments at commercial poultry facilities across the country, with a focus on egg-laying operations in top-producing states. Over 130 facilities have been assessed in 2025, including 38 last week. This comprehensive effort includes offering two free, voluntary biosecurity assessments aimed at wildlife management and overarching biosecurity improvements.

Wait, how does paying a farmer more for chickens lower the price of eggs? You are now cheering more government spending?

Also, is this an admission that imports lower prices? Now apply this knowledge to every other product.

BTW, all of these breathless articles are relying on wholesale prices. Grocery prices (i.e., consumer prices for eggs) have not decreased.

That almost reads like a creepy propaganda peace: “USDA’s bold actions(!!?), which aren’t entirely clear, results in massive egg price declines… that nobody can actually see”.

I expect if it’s true wholesale prices are crashing, we will eventually see more normal prices at retail. I don’t think anyone expected prices to go up continually. The obvious issue is it takes time. Many egg laying hens were lost/culled from the last wave of avian flu. It takes about 5-6 months for a hen to start laying eggs, to build a new flock. If wholesale markets are reacting it may just be “so far so good” that they haven’t been hit by another avian flu wave and are about to get egg production more back in line.

Usually wife buys eggs at Sams, but I dont do Sams/Walmart if I can avoid it. Went to Publix last night for a couple of things and noticed eggs were $5.49 a dozen, cage free a $1 higher, not that I know the difference.
It is bizarre to me that an 8 pack of pepsi was almost $9 at Publix ($8.49 or $8.99).:eek:It's bogos or no pepsi for me.

Was Trump to blame for high egg prices?
