Looking at that chart I see a lot of expense in health care. I’m wondering how much of that has to do with insurance rates for medical professionals being so high, and if some tort reform should be considered. Then I’m wondering if it has anything to do with insurance companies becoming for profit back in the 50’s. Probably both.

Your website doesn't have a "range." It is an average price. You are likely referring to the highest average price. Which claims to come from BLS but doesn't match the BLS consumer data.

I don't know what your definition of range is but it has a highest price, lowest price and average price. I would say the range is between the highest price and the lowest price.

    Current Price
    $3.22

    / dozen
    as of March 2025

    Average Price
    $3.32

    / dozen
    selected period

    Highest Price
    $8.17

    / dozen
    reached March 2025

    Lowest Price
    $1.20

    / dozen

The lowest price, according to that website, was from June 2019. The highest price, according to that website happened on March 1, 2025. The "range" is just the range in pricing over the last 10 years, not a cross-sectional range. The website has no cross-sectional range.

Also, as I have noted, this data does not match consumer data from BLS, despite the claim that the data is from BLS.

BTW, I should also note that if you go to the bottom of their page, they have state-by-state readings. No state was lower than $6.79 (in South Dakota). Most states were at $7.39 with some states stretching much higher than that. So, their "data" seems highly questionable, as it is mathematically impossible to have no state with an average lower than $6.79 and an overall average of $3.22.

So what policies did Trump pass to lower gas prices in just two months since he’s been in office? I haven’t seen any. And no, drill baby drill isn’t a policy since we were already drilling at record numbers, lol. This is like giving Trump credit for low gas prices during the pandemic because nobody was driving. Crap just doesn’t magically go down because a new person is in the White House, surely you aren’t that easily duped.

Just checked Walmart in Orlando and their cheapest eggs are $4.97 which means Publix is probably $1 more

We continue to see soaring prices at Dollar Tree under Trump. Trump's first time in office Dollar Tree went from $1 to $1.25 for the first time ever. Now they're talking about selling items up to $7

You'll need a Dollar Forest to afford those prices

7.49 here. I’m highly dubious of your source’s accuracy.

The Trump tariff expectations reduced oil prices by decreasing worldwide expectations for economic growth. Trump talked OPEC countries into increasing oil production. Wouldn't that push down oil futures? Seems like a resolution of the Ukraine war would push down prices a tad, perhaps by stabilizing supply expectations. Increased domestic production will push down prices it would seem. Bombing Yemen would tend to increase prices.

Screw the price of eggs, just give me 1 egg and 3 extra slices of bacon and I'll be happy.

With a recession looking to be more and more is on the horizon in the not too distant future, it’s a high probability that this is playing a huge role in the current price drops. Not to mention, they were already trending downward before Trump took office.

Historically, when the economy slows, gas prices drop, as they did during the pandemic and in 2008 and 2009 due to the Great Recession. People hurting financially and losing their jobs leads to less people driving, which pushes down the prices - you aren’t going to prioritize gas and your vehicle if you still have a mortgage and a family to feed. If we are lucky enough to somehow avoid a recession, I’d venture you will see those prices shoot back up.

If gas prices continue to drop or even stay at the level they currently are at, combined with the economy stabilizing and not falling apart due to Trump’s tariffs, I’ll be the first to admit I was wrong and give him full credit, as I always do (see the presidential election). I’m just not hopeful that it will, but I want America to have a strong and stable economy, regardless of who is in office. I don’t play politics like it’s a team sport, lol.

Good chance we were in a recession before Trump took office

Just so I know for future reference, what is the definition of a recession? I just want to make sure if or when I’m in one or not. I know it’s changed over the last four years.

I think this article may clear that up for you (or at least the “redefining” the prior administration was accused of).
