Pretty decent assessment of Anthony Richardson as an NFL prospect - the good and the bad.

i believe AR has an opportunity to be an elite qb. i just dont see him as a top 15 1st round pick due to the inconsistency to date in his game. I'm of the view that top of the first round usually is someone that has demonstrated high qb skills and consistency but with the NFL one never knows whats going on in their draft room. i hope for his sake he gets drafted by a team that is a good fit and he gets a very large contract.

AR at least since high school has always been one of the best athletes on the field and he has never delivered “it” vis a vis team hardware.

He is a gifted individual a live arm and wheels to burn. He wont be athletically superior to the defenses he will face. He is a thoroughbred in a game that rewards mustangs. He hasnt been durable his last 5 years of football with a significant size advantage.

There are people all around us doing ordinary jobs that were athletically gifted and couldnt cut it in the league. The average duration for players is less than 4 years, its not an OTJ training environment.

I hope he doesnt owe denny to much when he signs and can say no to people looking for a free ride. He also needs sage investment advice.

There are as many people on this board that don't think he goes before the 3rd round as think he goes early.

If he goes to the Panthers his new HC will be Frank Reich who was hired today.

I dont have the time to watch the video...what does he say about ten straight passes to wide open wide receivers which somehow sail 10 yards over their heads or hit them in the ankles all while having no pressure on him. Honestly thats a real issue and it didn't improve all year. There will always be GMs who take Sam Bowies over some 6'6" guard because of their big body but in the end many of those guys aren't the best choice.

Trask could drop a dime in dime sized hole.

The Bucs don’t believe in Trask. He’s been the #3 behind Gabbert and most likely won’t start even if Brady leaves

I’m not sure why it’s not translating for him

People forget AR had elite reads, elite vision, and great accuracy in 2021. He regressed last year but he can easily make a big leap under the right coach and system

No, we didn't forget because there was no night and day difference because of coaching between 2021 and 2022, no matter what story you wish to believe. AR was sub 60 percent cmp% and only had two games in 2021 where he had more than 10 pass attempts. He only had 64 passes all year and 6 tds/5 ints.

Mullen quote from that year: “An easy one would be if you go back a couple games he drops back, misses a protection check, then misses the hot throw, then misses the primary read, and then scrambles around and runs and everybody thinks, ‘What a spectacular play!’”

In short, Mullen didn't trust him to run the offense. So, no he was not elite in 2021 and suddenly regressed.

Looking back, I think most of AR's problem in 2022 is lack of game experience playing qb, at any level. He definitely has all the physical talent to be elite.

You are creating/spouting facts that are historically inaccurate.

    2021 38/64 59.4 comp % 529 yds
    2022 176/327 53.8 comp% 2549yds

if AR had completed 1.5 more passes a game in 2022 he would have had an identical comp%, further more extrapolating out his 2021 attempts and production to 2022 levels it would be 150 yds more approx. 12.5 more yds a game.

AR has consistently produced middling numbers despite having exotic tools to work with you are blinded by his perceived potential despite his historical production over 5 seasons spanning 2 levels of competition. He is who he is despite possessing a gifted arm and legs.

Not everyone can be a Joe Burrow or Jalen Hurts. But hopefully AR gets drafted and gets his chance. I'm pulling for him.

    In 2021?
Do you mean vs FAU and USF? I agree he tore it up then.
I don't remember a lot of elite play in 21, except vs a very bad FSU team.

I know we disagree, but the guy should have come back. He could have been an all-timer for us and then in the NFL.
But instead he took the money and ran. Good for the short-term, IMO not so good for the long term.
We are a short-term focused society these days, but that doesn't mean it's right.
It's why NFL players and lottery winners go bankrupt at such a high rate.

And as I've said 100 times- he won't be facing FAU and USF in the NFL.
He will be facing teams even better than Kentucky! Who just destroyed him last year.

It’s about film study. In 2021 his mechanics and film were some of the best I’ve ever seen

And his performance was fine. His bad “numbers” come down to two games.

He was set up to fail vs UGA in 2021. And every QB struggled vs them.

And his game vs LSU was quite good. He had to lead us to major points quickly. So 10/19 3 TD and 2 int doesn’t look great but in the game flow he played fine. He came in the 2nd half and led us to 4 straight TDs to TIE the game.

Your last post was elite reads, great accuracy his actual stats dont support your subjective analysis. He has always been a middling performer never a game changer

The NFL is desperate for quarterbacks. That's the only reason why AR will go in round 1. They require passers to find the right receiver and be accurate and on time with the football. I just don't see that in Richardson.

Mullen and others even made comments that success on a play doesn't mean the QB executed the play correctly. I love GNFP but he was way too enamored with AR in relief of Jones. I think that was the case because Jones was just so limited and frustrating in his lack of ability to read progressions and had horrific mechanics. AR just looked better than a pretty bad QB. I know Mullen played favorites but AR was exposed even in his good games for making plays with pure athleticism however he put himself in that position due to failures running the actual play design.

Unless I'm mistaken, Trask broke his foot the season he was going to start when Felipe was at UF.
