That Minnesota law may be presented as extreme, but keep in mind it’s in response to states like Texas that would go after the parents and actually charge with child abuse any parent who gets this sort of care for a child. Think about that, jailing parents who want to do what’s best for their child under the guidance of a doctor. You think MN should honor a TX “arrest warrant” for one of their doctors!!!? Those laws went extreme the other way which necessitated other states to shield people who flee in their direction and who offer that health care. I am sure I’ve read of a slew of states with similar laws to protect abortion access and associated records and to prevent the likes of TX from subpoenaing health records.

The law also mentions a situation where there is a court order to remove the child from the parent. That of course is a more extreme step, but if I’m reading correctly it covers situations where another state (not MN) has *already* legally removed the child.

These provisions seem reasonable to protect people. Now the law may go even further to “protect” people, if it covers any random person from taking a minor across state lines for the purpose of affirming care, that’s where I’d agree it’s a bridge too far. That seems to me it would be more like kidnapping. Not a lawyer so I honestly can’t tell if the law goes quite that far.

? It was simply a highlight of the group she underpenetrated in according to exit polls. Why so defensive?

Again, this is only one of the issues but the idea that parents have to hand over their children to the state and have no voice in how the states handles them, is not a winning issue for Democrats. Maybe you should start taking those concerns seriously instead of telling people that they are just imagining thing. The level of condescension from Democrats this election cycle is extremely off putting and that is coming from people like Dave Portnoy.

Yes, being “forced” to vote for a morally bankrupt person is in no way a reflection on yourself. Keep telling yourself that and I’ll keep living in my self righteous fantasyland.

And for anyone wondering how we got a second Trump term, this is it. Insulting anyone that disagrees with you politically is a very large part of it. You have posters here calling Trump voters neo-nazis. After a while, they get really tired of it and decide to vote for the guy giving you the middle finger. Please knock it off, so we can help the US get back so some sort of normalcy after Trump leaves the stage.

I’m guessing you don’t see the hypocrisy in that statement. He gives half the country the middle finger and it’s cool, the other side does it and that’s the problem. Got it.

So your theory is that insulting republicans caused democrats to not turn out? I agree its not needed but you've got a lot of narratives going.

You think Democrats not turning out, which I thought was not a problem, is what swung this election rather than Indies and centrist Republican breaking for Trump?

I never said a parent should have “no voice”. That’s a strawman.

My take on gender affirming care, as with almost all social issues, is mostly “none of the state’s business”. Quite the opposite of your strawman.

I’m not closed off to state intervention for a child to be granted care, but I’d view that as an exceptional case (like history of abuse, or some very obvious physical issue that needs addressing).

Looks like the Pennsylvania senate race is headed for a required automatic recount. The current difference of the total vote favors the republican by .48%. State law requires the recount be completed by the 3rd Tuesday after the election and starting no later than the 3rd Wednesday after the election.

Recount laws in Pennsylvania - Ballotpedia

I'd rather be the republican with such a large lead if the lead does not go above .50%:

    David McCormick 3,326,810
    Bob Casey Jr. 3,293,763
    Total Vote 6,793,957
    Difference .48%

Nevada is headed for a senate race recount too. It's closer than Pennsylvania. Nevada doesn't require an automatic recount, but the democrat incumbent who is behind in the vote will likely ask for a recount as there is an approximate .3% difference.

You seemed to miss the first part where you can avoid getting the middle finger in the first place by not insulting people that disagree with you politically and calling them neo-nazis.

I already told you what I know. Coming from the exit polling it was the economy as the decider and no one mentioned mean democrats. Maybe you talked to more people than they did.

If it is none of the states business, why are the non-notification law by the states on this issue?
