"The same is true of the 2020 riots."

    Not true.

Self-Described Member of “Boogaloo Bois” Sentenced to Prison for Riot Conviction

"On the night of May 28, 2020, within hours of arriving in Minneapolis, Hunter met up with other Boogaloo Bois members, obtained an AK-47 assault rifle, and blindly fired 13 rounds into the entryway of the Minneapolis Police Department’s Third Precinct building."

Joint Terrorism Task Force Charges Three Men Who Allegedly Sought To Exploit Protests In Las Vegas And Incite Violence

"U.S. Attorney Nicholas A. Trutanich for the District of Nevada, Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson, Special Agent in Charge Aaron C. Rouse for the FBI, and Sheriff Joseph Lombardo of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department announced today that three alleged members of the “Boogaloo” movement — a term used by extremists to signify a coming civil war and/or collapse of society — have been charged with violations of federal and state law for conspiracy to cause destruction during protests in Las Vegas, and possession of an unregistered destructive device (specifically, an improvised incendiary device commonly known as a Molotov cocktail)."

“Violent instigators have hijacked peaceful protests and demonstrations across the country, including Nevada, exploiting the real and legitimate outrage over Mr. Floyd’s death for their own radical agendas,” said U.S. Attorney Trutanich. “Law enforcement is focused on keeping violence and destruction from interfering with free public expression and threatening lives.”

    https://www.courthousenews.com/two-charged-in-murder-of-oakland-federal-officer-during-protests/

"Two men have been charged in the murder of federal officer David Patrick Underwood, who was shot and killed while guarding the federal courthouse in Oakland as protesters took to nearby streets to demonstrate against racial injustice and police brutality."

"Carrillo is suspected of ties to the right-wing extremist movement Boogaloo, formed around opposition to gun buybacks that soon grew into an anti-government internet meme promoting violent civil war through militias. Boogaloo is also known by the alternate name “Big Igloo.”"

Change can't happen en lieu of politics? Those were social protests, nothing like J6, which was overtly political. "Defund the police" was a symptom born of stupidity.

Try reading what I posted (#27).

95% of the thousands of demonstrations were peaceful. That left several hundred that were not. Among these, there were several incidents where right-wing provocateurs incited violence.

I think what you meant to ask is, "can change happen non-politically?" or "Is there a such thing as non-political change?" And the answer is it depends on what change you're trying to enact. If you want the government to change something then it is political.

    George Floyd Protests: A Timeline

Minneapolis Mayor says peaceful protests have turned to ‘domestic terrorism.’

After four nights of chaos in Minneapolis, Mr. Frey called on people to stay home. “What started as largely peaceful protests for George Floyd have turned to outright looting and domestic terrorism in our region,” he said on Twitter.

He said people who broke the 8 p.m. curfew would be helping those who use crowds to prey on Minneapolis.

“We are now confronting white supremacists, members of organized crime, out-of-state instigators, and possibly even foreign actors to destroy and destabilize our city and our region,” he said.

My office is in downtown Tampa. I took the occasion of the Republican National Convention to bail out and go to
Taos, NM for a week. I highly recommend it.

Well, I guess you got your excuses all lined up for next week then. When the pro-Hamas crowd causes trouble, it’s not an embarrassing divide in your party caused by trying to tow an impossible line between the problematic and the revolting (no choice at all in my opinion). It’s because a bunch of white male supremacists disguised as women and minorities showed up and ruined perfect party unity.

Democracy at work. Protests are part of the process. I am glad that the left has disagreements that they have to work through.

Yeah, i had tickets to see Carlos Santana that weekend - in Tampa - had forgotten about the convention until i tried to make hotel reservations $400/night for La Quinta? But could find no room anywhere. Carlos saved me by canceling the concert because of an approching hurricane.

Right. But it has to actually get worked through at some point. I don’t see how it gets worked through, ever, by on one hand giving Israel unrestricted resources with zero meaningful checks while on the other giving Hamas political support and effectively keeping them fed with “humanitarian aid.” At some point, you have to choose. There is no middle path to navigate between these two.

Honestly, I’m pulling for the pro-Israel wing of the party to come out on top and stop tolerating the nonsense. Give the Hamas wing the letter of the law just like you would if they were a bunch of (actual) white supremacists openly calling for wiping out people who don’t look like them, obstructing traffic, occupying buildings, and physically intimidating people. If the Hamas crowd wants to march with a permit, stay in its designated area, and respect the right of people to ignore them, then I have no problem with them.

I suspect it will be mostly a pro-Palestinian (not necessarily pro-Hamas) crowd. But amongst them, there will be Boogaloo Bois and other POS extremists, who will exploit the tense situation by trying to incite anger, violence and conflict with the police, as they did at several BLM protests.

(By the way, I added a couple more examples of Boogaloo Bois being arrested for violent activities at BLM protests in my prior post #41.)

FYI. VP Harris' prior statement regarding Hamas terrorists: ". . . . we must not tolerate it in our nation".

That would be the MSM's wet dream. If it were true, there would be video everywhere, every day, every minute.

    You are being redirected...

"White supremacists, meanwhile, have attempted to antagonize protesters by distributing racist propaganda, holding inflammatory signs, or yelling insults from passing vehicles. Still others have shown up to “monitor” or report on protests."

"A handful of extremists have been arrested for a range of crimes including inciting a riot, aggravated assault and weapon charges."

    June 7
    • Lakeside, VA: Klansman Harry H. Rogers of Hanover, Virginia, was charged with attempted malicious wounding, destruction of property, and assault and battery after allegedly driving into a group of protesters. Rogers attended “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville and once identified himself as the state leader for the Rebel Brigade Knights, a Virginia-based Klan group.
    June 6
    • Fort Plain, NY: A brief altercation occurred between protesters and several individuals wearing pro-Klan and Confederate attire who arrived and reportedly began to distribute Klan propaganda as protesters were leaving Haslett Park.
    June 5
    • Brooksville, FL: As a protest was ending, David Howell, who has a swastika tattoo, allegedly started an altercation and pulled a machete from his pants. Howell is a member of Unforgiven, a large white supremacist prison gang based in the Florida prison system.
    May 30
    • Salt Lake City, UT: Brandon McCormick was arrested and charged with two felony weapons counts and one count of aggravated assault after allegedly brandishing a knife then aiming a bow and arrow at peaceful protestors. In the past, McCormick has shared far right and racist posts on social media.

A lot of people take "the ocasion [sic]" to "bail out" of their hometowns during events like this. Many in Atlanta did so during the Olympics and many of my friends did so during the RNC in Tampa - in both cases, a lot of them did so b/c they could rent out their houses for thousands$ for just a few days. That's purely non-partisan self-interest in either case to avoid crowds and produce income.

The slur quoted by GatorJMDZ that Tampa was akin to a "prison camp" is indefensible. I've lived in Tampa nearly my entire 50+ years. During the RNC, I was chair of a K-8 school located within the downtown Tampa district. Aside from traffic congestion and the expected high cost of hotel rates, it was pretty much normal - and even during a tropical depression. No riots, no interruptions to business or even the school's schedule. Can't speak about JMDZ's focus on strip clubs and their practices - may be true or not, I wouldn't know.

I've been to and witnessed protests/concerts/political events over the decades in numerous cities. Just a few observed facts: leftist protestors are angry and won't tolerate any discussion or debate; leftists leave behind litter and property destruction; conservatives pick up their trash. If the "good and right" is determined by how vocal/loud and chaotic one group can be, then the left holds the trophy. Congrats.
