Pre-Game Discussions: Central Florida at FLORIDA

Given all the concern for UCF rushing attack, they probably come out winging it down field.

 

It how’s their kicking game

 

I have been a Gator fan for 61 years beginning when I was a freshman. Two years ago one of our grandsons was the football equipment manager for UCF. He graduated this year.

These are my observations:

1. UCF is not a bottom feeder. They are a member of a major conference. It is no longer a commuter school easily ignored.

2. UCF does not have the world’s best rushing game.

3. UF does not have the world’s worst defense.

4. It would be foolish to ignore the fact that UCF’s offense will be a formidable challenge to our defense.

I hope we can see all three of our receivers play together. Wilson, mizell and badger could become dangerous.

 

Wilson is still out indefinitely

 

I'm afraid I'm taking UCF 35-24. They're a decent team with decent coaching and they'll be fired up to play us. And they'll have a good number of fans there.

 

We should be able to beat UCF

 

Fun story, but back in the 70s, FTU was a part of the discussion about a possible reorganization of the state's university system. There was an active proposal to absorb and reorganize the smaller universities into a singular "University of Florida" system with branch campuses across the state, similar to the California or Texas system. Under this proposal, the main campus would remain where it is but with the new designation The University of Florida, Gainesville or UFG. While the school now known as UCF would be renamed The University of Florida, Orlando or...UFO...

 

Well, either UCF is much worse than I thought or Colorado is much better.

our issue is we run a very flawed defensive scheme that leaves our middle wide open so when teams break the LOS there is no one for 10-12 yards

 

so a few punts and or turnovers by us with our porous D and UCF has a good chance at the w.

 

UCF has an offense skewed toward rushing with a coach named Malzahn. Imagine that. Who would have thought?

Their defense is as poor as ours. Their pass rush may be worse than ours. That favors us significantly when Mertz and Lagway get time. Having two good cover corners plus Bridges, we should have 8 players in the box every down, covering man and let the chips fall where they may. If we have 2 high safeties, we lose, perhaps badly if UCF plays out of their minds on defense.

 

Bummer.

 

Will Tre Wilson be available for UCF?

 

Did he have the same procedure that Montrell had and Montrell was back in like three weeks?

There will be 35-40k UCF fans. Gator fans have quit , according to all the “let’s boycott bs “

 

If Billy can’t figure a way to win this game it should be his last. Here’s hoping for a solid game on offense and defense.
