Braun, Tarquin?? Starting at power 5 schools? You think White, an all sec performer wanted to not be a Gator? Possible he was shown the door?

 

Yep, we are young. Billy chose to go that route instead of bringing in significant impact guys from ( see Norvell 2 years in a row) the portal. It’s still not an excuse not to win. 2-3 impact players at TE, OL, and Wr change this team, but I’m talking impact players. Can’t evaluate tape for months and Miss on big time transfers, especially in areas of need.

I’d also say this about young talent: I’d be worried other big time schools poach our young talent if we don’t win…see Hopper, Mike Tarquin. I’m also concerned we let players go that definitely could have helped us in Donovan McMillon and Josh Braun. 3-4 of those players still here and you’re looking at a different team. Yet we let them leave as we must not have seen the talent. They are all talented. Heck, McMillon has 44 tackles this year and we all know Hopper’s a game changer.

 

Shouldn’t compare Stoops and Billy in same sentence. One turned around a place that never recognized football and had much less resources to do it. Stoops doesn’t need months to evaluate transfer tape. Billy walked into a university that sells itself in the best recruiting state there is.
He chose not to change the TE room or Wr room. He’s going to have to change his portal strategy asap and get game changers to come in immediately, especially with schedule the next 2 years.

BN isn’t perfect. But this changing coaches thing if he loses to Vandy or doesn’t have a great season this year is absurd. Let the man have four years, assuming he continues to recruit like he is now. We will never return to our rightful place in college football if we pull the trigger this quickly every time.

Which team is ranked last in offense? Florida. Vandy actually is ranked in the Top 5 in the conference. If this defense plays like they did against Kentucky, it might be an even uglier loss than last week.

 

This board is for venting and discussion. Hell, Gator fans complain even when we win. There is so much hate and distrust in the world, it would be helpful if we were nicer to each other.

 

You had Ray Davis who is an NFL back going against kids out of high school in our defense. Wonder why we didn’t see that mismatch coming ?

Billy really needs to reexamine the S&C coaches cause this is getting ridiculous

 

we don’t pull the trigger quickly with any coach that we’ve fired. Muschamp got 4. McElwain got 2 and half because of false death threat claims. Mullen quit in year 4.

which of those coaches deserved more time?

 

I think if I saw any emotion out of Billy I’d feel better. To see our team come out completely flat two weeks in a row concerns me. Why no motivation ?

And those other schools will continue. When you don’t win you lose players. Norvell is clearly the better coach right now. I’m not sure what’s wrong with saying that. The guy knocked it out of the park portalwise two years in a row. He chose to address his needs with impact players. Meanwhile we evaluated, evaluated and then evaluated some more and missed out on big time wide receivers, tight ends, safeties…all major areas of need.


And yes, Stoops and Napier are not near the same. Stoops is doing it at a place where there were not nearly the resources that Billy has- not close. Because I don’t wear OB glasses all the time doesn’t mean not a fan. I’ll be at the game today after driving many hours. Been a Gator for over 40 years. Going to root for our guys but also be honest.

The other 90% are concerned like me. Win today and at SC next week and that’s a start but Billy isn’t a rookie and he needs to portal differently, play call differently, and maybe show some concern when the special teams continually cause us issues. His supporters have even said stubbornness, defensiveness, and even mindset need to change. Talking about a win in which we played one good half 3 weeks ago does nothing to help the situation.

Not always negative. Just honest and honestly not much to be positive about with football lately. This is a message board and for opinions. We have opinions and are allowed to express them and can make choices as to what we read.

Also we have to stop blaming Mullen and even Mac brought into it?? That was years ago. We have given so many examples of coaches that have changed things immediately which is easy to do now with the portal. And yes I understand the portal. Here’s what so many have said, and they are right, you cannot spend months evaluating or you lose the player. Evals need to be done much quicker. Individuals with much more insight to the program than you and I have said the same thing. It’s the way we lose. And, doesn’t need to take 4 years. That mindset in itself is concerning. Even if, I prescribed to the 4 year thing ( I do not) I see nothing changing.

Outdated offense not changing- look at the data- 68th in offense. 86th in rushing offense.

Billy still calling plays when the data shows we are not doing well. 10th or 11th in SEC in most categories.

Billy defensive and no emotion- answers about special teams beyond concerning.

Nothing tells me the portal strategy where we are too slow to go after and offer is changing.

 

You gave us non glowing but good data to objectively help us analyze two years in. Our offensive woes after two years are one of my biggest concerns.
