Pre-Game Discussion: Those Other Guys at FLORIDA

Under what scenario does an undefeated FSU get left out of the playoffs? One of Michigan/OSU knocks the other out...even if Georgia and Wash go undefeated.

 

If we don’t beat them, they’ll lose the ACC championship game.

 

If Washington and either Ohio State or Michigan are undefeated, then Alabama beats Georgia, I think an undefeated FSU gets left out.

 

We win imo off the record. I ain’t betting against them ACC refs.

 

Bama beating Georgia would make a lot of people happy. Us beating FSU, would make a lot of people happy. The underdog needs to rise to the occasion. The "D" needs to take a stand. Stay in their lanes and try to shut these guys down... (I'll settle for a slowing down)

That’s wishful thinking. No undefeated Power 5 conference champion is going to be left out over a one loss team. Just not happening.

We’ve got to ( broken record) add an extra guy to our defensive set. 5 on the d line gives us a much better chance to stop their running game by clogging their potential running lanes. We’ve got to shut down their running game and put them into predictable passing situations.

 

On top of all the built in drama for this years game, Fowler and Herbie are calling the game. Hoping Herbie will resist the temptation to pimp the Noles.

Being honest, what we really need would be to magically have Brandon Spikes and/or Major Wright suit up..

Tim is my favorite (and greatest) Gator of all time, but we really are desperate for help on D.

 

I highly doubt they would take a one loss Alabama team (who lost to TX, another team left out in your scenario) over an undefeated major conference team even with a back-up QB.

The howling would be epic if it happened, but I'm not banking on it.

 

If they are SEC champs, they will go. The SEC champion will NOT be left out of the playoffs.

 

Do you honestly believe that if Alabama beats Georgia to win the SEC title, they will not be in the CFP Top 4? And if the SEC title game is close with Alabama winning, a 1-loss Georgia team would get in over FSU, IMO.

 

Sobering to think about the talent we've had on our great defenses compared to our current roster. How many would earn a spot on a top Gators D?

Coaching and scheme are important but let's be real. Talent acquisition is the business we're in (Napier's words).

 

Over an undefeated team that toyed with one of the top 5 SEC teams early in the season? Don't get me wrong, as much as I despise Alabama, I would love to see them beat Ga, get an invite to the playoffs and have FSU get left out, but I think is longshot at best. Like I said, I'm not banking on it.

I think the better chance is that FSU loses one or both of their last two games (although I'm sure the ACC will give a desperate assist on both) and then they will definitely miss the playoffs.

 

I don't think Bama will beat Georgia either, but Saban has them playing much better than they did earlier in the year. Maybe one of his best coaching jobs. Plus, I don't think FSU will go undefeated. We have a shot Saturday and I certainly think Louisville will beat them. Hope so anyway.

 

I would say that Bama would have a good shot at beating them, but I think Kirby with two weeks to prep (Ga Tech...ha, ha) will devise a plan to keep Bama's QB in the pocket and I think the only way Bama wins that game is if their QB runs all over Ga.

 

Toyed with.. haha not even,and LSU offense has improved. And noles had a QB. Not much to take from game 1 although give them credit for showing up and taking care of business.
