My question is in regards to the play. How is it supposed to help?

Oh, I'll pop in. Usually working while watching the games so as not to get too aggravated. But I'll try my best to stay positive.

My LSU neighbor is not looking forward to the game and isn't loving the Kelly hire. We usually have some spirited smack talk but he's gone MIA.

The LSU GT counter showed up just this past week from MO and we had the whole right side seeing it immediately.

TBF, it still worked. But not because we were clueless, but because we had at least two younguns overplay it. Miller was involved too but I’m guessing he was in the right gap and the guy on his hip was not. The other guy had it blown up but overran it behind the LOS.

The DE’s didn’t play it right one time last time. That is pretty much gone too.

So while I expect the D to struggle as usual, I don’t expect them to just be annihilated like that.

DL holding the middle on receiver clear-outs also showed progress this week. MO still got us once, but not all day.

I will be very surprised if they can even get close to any of that last debacle. Not saying they can’t move and score, but they’ll have to run more than two plays.

It's pretty out there being on Twitter... our 3rd down defense is not right. That has to be fixed for the LSU game if it's correctable.

Reading between the lines, you can see this game means a lot. Pretty sure Napier really wanted the LSU job and they didn’t even give him a good look, so I’m sure there’s some motivation there. Also they did Corey Raymond dirty and I’m sure guys like Montrell and O’cyrus have a chip on their shoulders not getting recruited by the instate team.

Having said all that, I don’t think it’ll come down to this. The team that’s more disciplined wins and we are that team this year.

LSU football: Season will look a lot worse if Tigers lose to Florida

“Napier’s name was mentioned in the background in some quarters when the Tigers went searching for Ed Orgeron’s replacement.
But LSU AD Scott Woodward was never going to hire Napier. He was going to hire a big name. He wasn’t going to hire a coach from a program that’s not in a Power 5 conference.
He certainly wasn’t going to hire a guy working 50 miles from the LSU campus, guiding a program that Tigers supporters view as a small, weak sibling.”

Or bringing in... never mind. Too early for that. I think Napier has to get personally involved in the fix... the correction.

We can’t sit back and play the same soft zone we have been playing. We need to show more aggression like we did on the last defensive play. If I see another easy conversion against cover 6, it will be too soon.

“I am not hearing anything good about Brian Kelly,” Smith said. “I’ve interviewed him a few times in the past. I know he had a stellar record at Notre Dame. I like him. They looked awful at LSU last week. Awful. Tennessee just rolled over them, 40-13.”

According to Smith’s sources, Kelly isn’t making a lot of friends so far in his first season in Baton Rouge.

“I’m hearing the players (aren’t) fond of him, the administration (isn’t) fond of him, the fans (aren’t) fond of him, the town (isn’t) fond of him,” Smith said.

    Wow . . . IF true!

He's a square peg and we all know Baton Rouge is a giant round stinky hairy hole.

Agree. I don't think any of the side stories determine this game either. Montrell and O' play hard every game. I also think Napier was very deliberate in heading to a place that met his conditions for success. Execution and turnovers will determine who wins Saturday, like usual.

It's been bad all year long, we've finished half our year and it's this bad. It's correctable reminds me of another past UF coach, and frankly it wasn't. We have the softest zone D in the world and it's been that way. If its correctable why hasn't it improved. Want to know why our O gets about 25 minutes of O? The D can't get off the field and a lot of it is this soft zone we play. Opposing qbs have a field day agains us and I anticipate it will happen again sadly.

I do get the sense that BN is ok with a style of bend but don't break D. It seems he wants our opponents to earn yardage verses a long one shot TD score. Therefore, it's keep everything in front. Again, the downside is teams are making easy completions for there is lots of room to throw, lots of uncontested completions, lots of third down conversions, lots of eating the clock, and against very good O's it forces us to match them score for score.
I suspect, this kind of plan will produce a lot of close scoring contest and nail biters.

Give me an aggressive D any day.

The way we are recruiting, the "correctable" seems to be better players.
