Pre-Game Discussion: Florida vs Texas A&M slated for Noon Kickoff on ESPN

This is a tough one to predict, both teams are having disappointing years, both seemingly desperate to get a win.

With this being year 5 of the Jimbo era, I would say A&M is more desperate as the expectations were far higher in College Station going into 2022

11 am kick-off probably helps the Gators as opposed to a night kick-off, but A&M will still get something of a home-field bump.

Florida losing one of best defensive players for "off the field" issues certainly doesn't help, does the rest of the Gator team rally?

A&M seemingly finding a QB that can give them a little bit of spark, but they still gave up close to 400 yards rushing to Ole Miss.

I think this is going to be somewhat of a low-scoring, ugly game...

I'm a Gator and think it's doable.

The game could go our way if turnovers and penalties do, and of course if the young men play well.

I worry about Jimbo in desperation mode.
Billy’s playcalling has to be better than Jimbo’s and that too worries me.

 

will be interesting to see if the D plays better w/o Cox.

Going to be an interesting game:

Their coach is purposely trying to get fired

Our coach will eventually get fired

It will all be up to how much the players want this or care (ie. which team is less busy counting their NIL money)

 

With changes in officiating and rules making, defense and hitting are deemphasized obviously as a result of concussion and brain injury fears. Special teams, especially return game the same is true. It is getting more and more difficult to win consistently without a very good to great QB. As others have said, and Shane Matthews pointed out pre-season, (but I didn't want to hear it) AR is an inconsistent and not real accurate passer. He is not at the moment a very good to great QB. He is just POTENTIAL.

I think the ballgame today with TAM is a toss up. I hope the Gators are awake and get off to a good start. But the game is really in the hands of the QB's in my opinion. I don't think it's the play callers, I think it's execution of the call.
