Pre-Game Discussion: FLORIDA at UcheaT

This game goes mostly how the Tennessee offense goes, imho. If they’re on, they’ll feast on the very shaky Gator defense. If they’re not on and play like they have the last 2 games, Florida has a real chance to pull off a desperately needed road upset. I suspect UT will play better tonight too simply because they were embarrassed by Arky last week. If those 2 stud WR’s are a no go or even limited, it drags them down big time.

The Athletic has a super article (pay wall) about SEC rankings based on the "yards-per-play differential." Starting with an explanation of the stat and why it's so predictive.

Sure enough, it reveals a lot. The author gives the stat so far this year, then the last couple of years, and it is eerily predictive of season outcome.

So far this year, against power conference opponents, UF is...9th. Not bad! Ahead of: USCe, Ark, Vandy, OU, Missouri, UK, MSU. Basically tied with LSU, whose defense is again their Achilles' heel.

These games are all over the place. While I think we're going to get roughed up tonight, an "angry Bama" at home was supposed to take it out on poor Gamecocks.

It just reminds me: I don't know anything. This team winning tonight is less crazy than USCe almost pulling it out, much less Vandy, much less UK at Ole Miss, etc.

 

The only chance we will have is if the Pied Piper of Hamelin mysteriously shows up and lures the Vols from the sideline out of the stadium....
