I would agree with you that Mertz needs a quarter or so just to stay in the swim of things. To your earlier post, the tendency to get a little ahead of ourselves is a real thing in Gator Nation, if not CFB in general. Whether it's the doom and gloom club prophesying that the end is near or the customary irrational exuberance when things look up - somethings never change.

Missing 3 starters on OL probably has something to do with it.

Say what? Interesting. I think a villa on Fiji may be more comfortable.

I guess he can be less PC than your usual coach.

I will say he was really stern but he kept it under control. Raised my eyebrows when he said if it doesn’t get corrected either they would be gone or he would be.

Charlotte gave up 460 in the air last game.
Hmm, Mertz may have an opportunity to beef up some stats early.

I'm watching his press conference today, his tone is significantly muted and he is being very complimentary of UF.

Demetrius Knight - LB for the 49s speaking for the players discussing their excitement to play in the Swamp at night. Well spoken young man and very respectful toward UF, and especially Treavor!

You know you work for a low budget school when you have rip and tear old shirts to wear on the sidelines of a game.

Kingsley out for the game - lower body injury. Hoping it's precautionary.

That would be my guess. Give Slaughter some more reps.

I think we might not see Mertz at all, but just a guess and NOT HUBRIS - desperation to get his hands healed before continuance of SEC play... but dislike my post if you want. Personally I'd think it much more strategic to rest/heal him and force "next man up" - both scenarios help us for the season. Sending him out there for even a quarter and he rips his hand open again on a throw? You think it's going to heal any faster next week than it would have this week already? I mean, I don't know the exact condition of his hand, but there was quite a lot of blood and it couldn't be taped during the game (at least not well).

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Saturday's night game against the Charlotte 49ers has been sold out, the Gators Ticket Office announced Thursday. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN+/SECN+.

The sellout is the second straight this season and sixth overall under head coach Billy Napier as there were four games sold out in his first season last year after having four sellouts since 2018 prior.

Earlier this year, the Gators Ticket Office announced sellouts of student season tickets for the second straight season under head coach Billy Napier and for the third consecutive year.

The No. 25 Gators and 49ers will meet for the first time ever on Saturday.
