Pre-Game Discussion: #4 Ohio State vs #1 Georgia (Peach Bowl)

I hate saying this without puking, but I want Georgia to win. Can you imagine the fanfare if Ohio St were to win the CFP, knocking off the big bad SEC wolf? I wouldn't be able to turn on any sports without having to hear how great Ohio St is and how bad the SEC is now. All the talk of Bama's dynasty being over and Georgia not as good as the 2 best Big12 teams and how the Big 12 is the new SEC. I'm not ready for that because Florida hasn't enjoyed it for more than a decade.

 

I'm with you. I hated Georgia and FSU more than my Dad but I grew up in the SOS years so I was lucky. I was too young to really remember Pell.

 

As for the game itself I hope Ryan Day is putting some wheel routes in his game plan. Kyle Trask ate UGA's lunch with that and I am still not sure Kirby can defend this. Stroud will be the best qb Georgia has seen all year by far. Living in Georgia makes this an easy call for me. Go Bucks.

 

I'm excited to not watch this game. Rooting for either team is like picking which STD you want.

Uga ruined Spurrier's 66 season and the loss cost us the SEC with SOS being not just the Heisman winner but could have also had the first to lead us to an SEC title.

Uga won their 1980 NC with that Run Lindsey. If not, they lose, no NC for them and we get to 9 wins after going 0-10-1 in 1979.

Then there was Ray Goof saying he wanted to meet SOS in an alley.
There was the 4th and Dumb which cost us an SEC title in 1976.

The 1984 probation led by none other than guess who....Vince Dooley, as in Uga.

Anybody remember that wr pass (Appleby) that cost us the 1983 game.

Or Jordan Reed going in for the TD and the fumble at the 1. Heart breaking.

Uga fans point to a uga win of 75-0 ignoring the fact that our team went to WW II and theirs did not. How about those vets ?

I'm not sure Stroud is necessarily the best Georgia has faced, both Hendon Hooker and Bo Nix have put of similar numbers (all three are in the Top 4 of QBR in the country). What did Georgia do to both of those teams? Nix was 21/37 for 173yds w/ 2 INT's in a 49-3 loss, and Hooker was 23/33 for 195 w/ 1 INT in a 27-13 loss. Will Rogers was 29/51 with 1 TD in a 45-19 game, and even Richardson was under 50% completion....all four of those guys in the Top 10 of QB's rated in the next draft. 4 potential NFL QB's, and a total of 1 passing TD in 16 quarters of football.

Ohio State is already down their top WR (who played very little all season), and just lost their backup RB...not to mention their starting RB is already dealing with his own injuries. I don't doubt Stroud is a good QB, but we just saw Ohio State play the Big 10 version of Georgia a few weeks ago....and lost by three scores to Michigan. Problem is for Ohio State, there isn't a single thing that Michigan does that Goergia doesn't likely do better.

Georgia, like all fan bases, has good, bad and obnoxious fans. Their recent success has brought the obnoxious ones out of the woodwork, so yes, they are due a “come-uppence”. But we will really see obnoxious if it’s an all Big Ten championship game. The network heads will be slobbering over Big Ten football non stop.
I don’t blame any Gator for disliking Georgia, but I for one put our conference reputation above my irritation with Georgia’s arrogance.
