As much as I like Billy, the article is fair. What surprises me is that Billy shows no emotion whatsoever. Our coaches that won had true emotion. They took losses personal. Don’t see that from Billy.
I had us losing by 14 before I let this board sway me. I know Whittingham has a great thing going there. Still we completely shut them down in the 2nd half and couldn't capitalize. That's coaching.
The D coordinator did change if it’s any consolation .I think BN thought it was more a player issue than his decision making. I never really expect huge changes on staff after year one. Year two. We shall see.
Scathing! I insist, too early to tell. But the fact that both men had inexcusable special teams penalties on Game 14 is quite telling.
Tennessee and Kentucky are watching the film of the Utah game right now. Between chuckles at the dumb penalties and offensive play calling they are taking notes and getting ready to deliver the death blows, early and often! We are the easiest team in the SEC to game plan for, “The process”. In English, that means we keep losing for years to come until they don’t even game plan for us ever again. Ssshhh I remember Ray Goff at Georgia, I never thought in my lifetime, that we could get into a mess like that. Any gentleman’s agreement on how many years we give him has to be thrown out. The special teams last year hurt us all last year. To have a return man catch two balls inside the five yard line shows we don’t have competent coaches. I knew Utah would be ready for us and was a better coached team. It was a prime time view of the coaching at Florida, and a bad start to a hard schedule. I don’t hold much hope after the special team night of infamy. Everyone on here laughed at Willie Taggart and him getting canned so quick, the Holes have righted the ship and are looking forward to helping us at the end of the year, good grief!
I genuinely see you point. I don’t want to see a muschamp on the sideline either. Would rather see the players with more fire.
I understand BN is the calm and collected type and that is seemingly how he approaches everything. But, from the outside looking in, it is easy to mistake that calm and collected as apathy. I feel like it would go some ways to show a bit of fire if only to show he cares.
Agree 100 percent. I think he needs to and hopefully is showing some fire to and with his coaches. Players need to see his emotion. Next two weeks are huge. To start your career 7-9 ( if we lose to Tennessee) is a bad bad look and does not bode well for the future. Florida’s not the place to have a losing record your first two years.
BINGO! Leadership is more than just having and implementing a plan. If CBN cares you'd never know. The same can't be said for SOS, CUM, Saban, etc.
Zook was 20-13 the moment he got fired. But it was more than his record, it was the comedy show he put on display in Starkeville during his 3rd season.
How silly. His players know he cares and that’s all that matters. It doesn’t matter one bit if he doesn’t show enough emotion to satisfy you. Or me
What you saw was a young OLine getting worked up front. You can’t run or have consistent drives when you’re getting handled in the trenches. We need to gel and gel quickly. I’m hoping it’s not a talent issue, but a chemistry issue as this crew hasn’t been playing together long (with injuries to Mazzcua and Equakun) and can improve when we play Tennessee.
Gas lighting article from Matt Baker is expected. There are more differences than there are similarities if we are really being fair. Billy is much more organized and detailed oriented. The team is much more together than any of Taggart’s teams. Player mistakes right now on Billy’s team are from lack of experience not lack of discipline like Taggart’s.
In general, I agree with almost everything you stated. Two exceptions: Dickey walked into a good situation that Graves left him. The program was on the upswing. Also, there was good recruiting and good players on the team. Dickey's big mistake was turning a Pass Run team into a Wishbone team. Like turning sports car into a heavy SUV. Pell walked into a dumpster fire that Dickey created. Pell had a major rebuild project on his hands.
Why must everything be to the extreme? I didn't say he owes it to us, or that he even needs to do it. Fans are unhappy, all I'm saying is him showing some displeasure would resonate with them. I see a whole bunch of people getting upset because of the negativity of the fanbase making his job harder. I offer what I think would be an olive branch to assuage some of that anger and it's called silly.
