Roe v Wade was bad law. Public policy is a basis for writing and adopting laws--not for imputing into law via extraordinarily creative interpretation.

TBL-the floor of the people's house is the place to make that argument (for a national/federal law as Roe purported to be), not SCOTUS briefs/orals.

I know it's off-topic for this thread but categorizing monetary campaign contributions as protected free speech under the First Amendment, a decision supported by most conservatives, is also an example of "imputing into law through extraordinary creative interpretation". Would you agree that Citizens United is bad law?

Something quite nauseating is googling maga politicians who are staunchly anti abortion but then readily encourage their partner to get one.

I don’t disagree with this. Having judges rule and make up a rather sensible policy was wrong. It gave the anti woman goofballs a rallying cry. Those whack a doodles now have control of the Supreme Court.

The problem is now on the other foot. This is going to motivate those who are against this government overreach. You can disagree but we shall know in about a year.

The overwhelming majority of illegals are from Latin American countries, especially those who have entered illegally at the Southern border and as point of information at least half of the 10 million plus unauthorized immigrants in US entered legally and overstayed their visas, they didn't enter the US illegally at the Southern border.

I wish my dad had your logic/illogic when I was a teenager.

Dad: You we’re late for curfew.

Me: No dad, I got home on time, I just snuck back out when you were taking a dump.

Not sure of the point of your post, I was simply pointing out that someone who entered this country as a tourist, student or on a temporary work permit and decided to stay is just as illegal as someone who illegally crossed the Rio Grande. As a point of information one of the reasons for the amnesty provision of the Immigration Reform Act of 1986 that Reagan ended up signing was the large number of technically illegal immigrants from Ireland who entered the US as students or tourists in the late '70s and early '80s and ended up staying was because the Irish economy was in bad shape at the time and there were many jobs available in US than in Ireland. Interestingly, there wasn't much of an objection to their legalization under the law probably because they were white and spoke English.

Nice try, but that’s not why there wasn’t objection. But that line plays well to your base so you run with it.

Then why wasn't there an objection to legalization of the Irish immigrants mentioned?

How do they determine the number of undocumented immigrants? Doesn't undocumented basically means they don't know about them? Or is this just a math equation based on some thought from some really smart guys?

Seems logical, if there were roughly 115,000 fewer in states that have restrictions and 117,000 more in states that don't it's not hard to figure out what's happening. Seems like overall there were 2,000 more abortions.

Sounds like we could protect a lot of lives by not legally allowing the people to kill the child inside them.

Adding that according to your definition a zygote the size of the head of a pin is a child as is a very early term fetus the size of a a kidney bean. I would also add that politicians who support cutbacks to the WIC program which provides nutrition assistance to pregnant women, infants and young children can accurately refer to themselves as "prolife".

If only making something illegal actually stopped people. Was Prohibition effective at stopping people from drinking? Has the war on drugs been effective at stopping people from taking illicit drugs? And look at the abortion data. The only thing highly restrictive laws have done is made women go from a place with a restrictive law to a place without one to get an abortion. Make a national law and places like Canada will see an increase in American female tourists. And for those that can't get to Canada, we'll see more "back alley" places pop up to serve them.

As for how the number of undocumented is counted, many do have an ITIN, or tax ID number. We also have a good estimate about how many leave, how many come over the border, and how many overstay a visa. It's not an exact number, of course, but close enough.

So your reaction to the fact that abortion rose the year that a bunch of states made abortion illegal is to make abortion illegal to cause less abortions?
