He knew there were nfl scouts in the stands and he wanted to show he could be a nfl quality passer. So what if not running hurt the team, I want to be drafted high in the nfl.
I think our O-line is pretty dependable, but like you mention if the QB isn't reading properly then it doesn't work in the end.
I think it was schemed to have an off day and let AR pass and win. It failing brings up one of two things: 1) AR can't read and make the pass 2) Napier can't scheme or adjust when it counts.
I would say 2012, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019, and 2020 were definitely fun for like 90% of Gator fans. Other years like 2014 and 2021 had their ups and downs (we did beat FSU in 2021). Honestly, if Billy Napier is basically Mark Richt in his prime and he doesn't flame out, this program could use a little solid stability. We keep going through these cycles and we'll be Nebraska or Tennessee (I know, they're different this year) before we know it. People don't like to admit it, but I think most tolerate decent (8 to 9 wins with maybe a win or 2 over a rival). What they don't tolerate is instability and straight up bad teams.
Really want to see the film breakdown later this week. My impression isn't that he was refusing to take his run options, more that he was being tricked into thinking the handoff was the correct choice. My guess is that, this far into the season, the Vandy staff had seen enough tape to figure out which sets confused his reads. If that is the case then it falls back on coaching - especially the guys up in the booth. I was critical of them during the game and remain highly suspicious of their contributions.
Kirby needed a year to transition UGA and Saban needed a year at Bama. Billy inherited a poor team last year and will need to upgrade talent. Think he needs to get rid of his special teams, DC, TE and LB coach. Does he have the spine to make changes to his coaching staff and demand the best?
Hey Tig, yesterday I posted in the first quarter if we keep playing like this and allow vandy to stick around it will end up biting us in the butt. You posted a disagree bacon. Hmmm
He's not getting rid of his DC, nor should he. If there aren't significant improvements next season, though, something will need to change
The better your talent..the more room you have for error when things go against you or you’re not playing your best. I’m surprised I have to explain this.
