I really like Mertz. He's a good player and a great gator. But he is immobile, and can't handle pressure. Defenses know this, tee off on him, and disrupt his passing game. Lagway has to be the path forward. Defenses fear his legs, and that buys him time. Plus, his passing is extremely accurate. I cannot believe that a coach fighting for his job hasn't already prepared him to take over.
Happy for the win but this was a replay of the Tennessee game last year. Billy refuses to step on their throat and is happy to “work clock” the whole second half. To a lesser extent, Cal did the same thing in the fourth quarter against UM and blew a 17 point lead in 13 minutes. When you play not to lose, you’re gonna lose.
Plus UCF receivers are poor and Jefferson showed again he is out of shape and not a threat to beat you with his arm. UCF built their stats in two patsy games. It’s gonna be a long season for them.

83 yards in the 2nd half? Not bashing but how many times have the Gators won the 2nd half under Napier? I think that is one of the most damning aspects of his tenure here and I wish our media would out up numbers and ask him to address why he thinks that has been and continues to be a problem. It's staggering to see how many times we get shut down in the 2nd half.
