Free speech protects us from government silencing. GC is a privately owned entity, and as a mod, ET has more options than a mute...
2 things are obvious from today: 1. Texas is better than Georgia 2. A team of 3rd-stringers cannot win in the SEC under any conceivable circumstances Any "takeaways" beyond that are invalid. Billy Napier was not the reason we lost.
With respect, I have to differ with you. The Miami game was the first game of this season. Lets go back to how the season progressed. Especially up to the the Kentucky game, and the first half of the UGA game. The Gators of the Kentucky first half and even in the Texas game some progress (inspit of the injuries to the first and second stringers).
But if you are Urban Meyer you can win a national championship with a 3rd string qb. Warner was not imposed on CBN. He chose him, and maybe he had limited options, which again is a problem of his own creation. CBN is no victim. He is one of the highest paid coaches in the country with a sub500 record.
Misery loves company. Two wins gets us a bowl game. LSU loses 42-13 at home (was 42-6 until the last minute) FSU loses 52-3
Yes, pre-NIL/portal you can think of one instance where a third stringer won a national title. That's really not making the point that you think it is. Additionally, it's not just QB. We were down a ton of other starters. Nobody is suggesting CBN is a victim, but a third string QB and a ton of other starters out against a Top 5 team is a combination that is likely to result in a bad time. We can acknowledge obvious reality while still thinking he should be fired.
I was at the game, we flat out got smoked. I know we had players out and I did not expect a win, but I did hope to be competative. I am fully convinced Billy is not the guy. I want him to be, but we have seen his body of work at this pont. We are in a terrible situation and finically will likely have to endure another year of this. The sky is not all orange and blue my friends.
Name one team in the top half of the SEC that has a freshman transfer from an Ivy League school as their 3rd string.
I agree. Most of us knew that we were not going to win that game even before the season started, regardless if we didn't have this injury situation. He's already given us enough evidence with his overall losing record, record against SEC competition, etc. He doesn't have anything cooking here and there is no evidence that we would ever be on a path to making the playoff. Zero. None
For people that want Napier gone, there is a myriad of reasons and examples. Today is not one of them.
What a nonsensical request. Can you name any team this season that has beaten a Top 5 opponent with a third string QB? Texas couldn't beat UGA with their first string guy. Bama couldn't beat Vandy with their first string guy. Just try to have a modicum of objectivity instead of being blinded by your BDS.
A team of third stringers eh? Barber, Harris, Slaughter, Crenshaw-Dickson, Baugh, Jackson, Dike, Hansen, Boardingham, Livingston, Pyburn, Gumbs, Sapp, Jackson, Banks, McCray, Watson, Boone, Searcy, Pup, Shemar, Moten, Wingo, Robinson, Graham, Chiles, Bridges, Gates, and Castell all played today.
The point was how different an approach a winning coach has to the roster than CBN does. Maybe you wouldn't know the difference in looking at the rosters of SEC teams as to who the 3rd team qb is, but anybody who follows recruiting could tell you who those guys are, but not on our roster. Of course our secondary is in dire straits, but if we had a serviceable backup qb, we could have scored in the first half at the very least.
Again, I am not a CBN fan...I never liked the hire and definitely have not liked the results...That aside, the players obviously love him and play hard for him...This team has a ton of talent when healthy and eye-popping explosiveness with DJ and Baugh...If we retain that talent, hit the portal hard, and have Billy turn over the play-calling next season to a topflight OC, we will potentially be able to compete and win against anyone in the SEC.
First of all how many of the young talent will stay? How much money will Ohio State offer DJ? Will BN bring in an OC? What top notch OC will come for what is probably only one year? Lots of questions to be answered.
I’m 63, 3 generations Gator alumni, (my grandfather played for them). So, my answer is ‘yes’. My first year was 0-10-1, and even after that I continue to support them and donate annually. If you think Spurrier’s loss compares to this one - then I just respectfully disagree. It’s more than just the score, it is the deterioration of the program. Back then, it was unacceptable too - especially to Spurrier who rarely had any result like that (yes, I was at the NC championship game against Nebraska. I think SOS turned it around nicely the next season). My point was, losing appears to have become acceptable in a sense, and my confidence with BN recovering doesn’t compare to my confidence with Spurrier. Does yours? With Scott’s endorsement, it makes it harder to accept for me. I have no problem disagreeing with other fans on here, part of what a message board is all about, hopefully you weren’t questioning my fan-hood!
