Great win on homecoming!

Bye week should help the team, especially Lagway and injured Gators.

If Lagway and the defense can hold their own, improve and not get battered too badly over the next 2 games, we could win the final 3 with some Swamp magic.

 

He would have had to share time with 3 other good backs here.

I picked UK to win a close one. I was so wrong. Glad to be so. Really solid game from each unit. Mistakes yes, but overall that was a really well played performance.

 

This could actually be done if Billy just restructures the existing staff. Eliminate one of the two offensive line coaches and reduce some of the “non productive” members of the army and he could (keyword could) do just that.

 

Very nice win! I am encouraged by the young talent we have on this team. The home stretch is daunting, but should be a great experience for the young guys. The defense bent a little, but came up big in some big situations.

I wish we had not kicked short to one of the best returners in SEC history. No idea if that's on the coaches or the kicker....but you gotta at least try to kick through the end zone when he's back there.

IF the team keeps playing hard and the locker room stays together, I think 6-6 means Coach Napier gets another year. I'm not sure about 5-7. 4-8 and he's gone.

 

Everybody has been asking for growth and adjustments for decencies yet no one has mentioned our use of the I formation with Pyburn at FB in goal line situations. Result 5 TDs rushing by Baugh. Perhaps 1 very small step in a positive direction

That's curious, because on the 3rd down play that the cats stuffed at the goal on our first drive, DJ made the wrong read and handed off when he should have kept the ball. You could tell by his reaction that he realized it instantly because the entire right side of the field was wide open; he could have walked in. It was a great play call, just missed execution.

Not knocking DJ, because he is a baller and played a great game, but I disagree with your premise.

I got on the radio broadcast near the end of the second. Shane said Billy had called an outstanding game.

 

The 3 teams that we lost to are currently 18-2.

A&M is favored next week over #7 LSU. Then: SC, NMSU, Auburn, Texas. FPI predicts 9 win season.

Miami is a 91% home favorite over FSU. FPI predicts: 11 wins.

Vols a 90% favorite over UK. Mss State, UGA, UTEP, Vandy. FPI: 10 wins.

It's now clear: we should have lost those games. The way we lost Miami though has sealed the narrative. It was embarrassing. (A&M a bit also.)

 

The first line of this excerpt from your post is what bothers me about our coach’s approach. It seems to be more of “it’s a process”, games are building blocks, etc. this isn’t high school where the teacher might let you retake a test or drop your lowest grade.

 

It's fun to watch mediocrity transform into dominance. It's only one game. But, as disappointing as the Tenn result was, that's a highly ranked team and we left it all on the field. We have some tough competition looking forward...
